Kevin squirmed in sleep. He is slowly gaining his senses. The comfort he is feeling right now is so unfamiliar to him. His aching body a constant source of pain now feel at peace like almost floating. He blinked against light, forcefully opening his eyes. When his vision cleared his eyes landed on Taehyung who is seated beside him. He flinched and backed away almost hitting on to the head board. The previous events settled down on his mind like a wave. He gulped down. His heart pounding rapidly on his chest. The only feeling he can sense now is fear. His breathing become heavy. He is terrified for sure.
"Hey! It's okay. You are safe" Taehyung softly said, in failed attempt calm the boy down. Kevin's eyes became teary and each word he heard was like a horror movie for him. His secrets are uncovered. They know he is in pain. Then they are going to hurt him. The anyone who knew his pain only hurt him. He can't control his panic. Why he can't die! Just pathetic to die.
"It's okay, it's okay. Calm down!" Taehyung was now is standing near the bed that made Kevin more uncomfortable and scared. Kevin is only thinking that they would hurt him. He is a mess, due to hardness in chest and pain tears are flowing. Taehyung felt so helpless despite the fact he is being a doctor. He tried to get closer to him, but it make the matter worsens as Kevin tried to back away from him. He blamed himself for acting out with Kevin earlier, If he didn't do that Kevin will be comfortable with him.
"Is Kevin wake u-, Oh my god! Kevin!" Jin, who coming from downstairs, making a soup for the boy shocked looking at the scene. Kevin couldn't focus on anything, he only knew someone is here to hurt him and he is in danger. He is disorientated as he is not in a state to calm himself down like other times. Jin rushed towards the trembling boy and without wasting any time he held him from his both shoulders. Kevin flinched with the touch and his breath become short. "You are safe! No one is harming you Kevin" He softly said while looking at sweating Kevin. Kevin couldn't focus on what he heard, he is detached from the reality and suffer with intense terror. "You're safe baby, clam down!" but Kevin wasn't listening, actually not hearing anything. Jin sensed that and he shook Kevin to get his attention, once he succeeded cuz, Kevin look at Jin. "You are safe, it's gonna be fine. Take deep breaths come on" Jin reassured the trembling boy. Kevin actually tried to do that he is scared that he'll go crazy. He is loosing himself. "Good boy, just one more, you're safe. No one is going to hurt you baby" Jin softly encouraged the boy. Then he guided his breathing. After around two three minutes he calmed down. But the moment he came in to the realization, he again freak out, "Hey! It's okay. You're okay" Jin is fast to comfort him. Kevin felt more vulnerable.
"Kevin! It's okay. You're safe. We're not going to hurt you. We got you" Jin softly tried to explain. Kevin who sat on the bed looking at them lie back down facing the back towards them. His movements are so slow, like he trying be so tiny and hide himself. He is ashamed, terrified, exhausted and everything. Tears start to falling through his sweaty cheeks, making him more vulnerable. The presence of someone in the room freaking him out. His all secrets, his pain is known by others, he couldn't help but trembled. He is so sad as he failed to protect himself.
Jin sighed looking at Taehyung who was standing there like a statue. Jin knew Kevin doesn't like to talk with them, but he can't let him suffer alone when they are here. "Kevin bub, it's okay. No need to be ashamed. You're a brave little boy. We are here for you." Kevin is still shivering but attentively listen to Jin. Somewhere in heart he felt safe. But he isn't going to do the same fault twice.
"Jungkook! kook!" Jungkook entered inside with a shouting Jimin behind. "Hyung, I said him no!, but he won't listen." Jimin complained. Kevin flinched with the noise. He is so scared right now and a loud voice is terrifying him. "Don't shout!" Taehyung warned. "Is he awake?" Jungkook asked to which Jin nodded. Kevin is trembling with unseen movements in his back. "Kevin, Are you angry with me? I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. You're hurt because of me. I should've help you. " Jungkook said with tears with his eyes. Kevin couldn't help but face Jungkook, "No!" he muttered softly. Kevin can't understand why Jungkook is apologizing. He doesn't know how to comfort him, he is exhausted So he get back to his previous position; like a coping mechanism for his terror. "But I'm- " Jungkook again tried to reason but, "Jungkook, we talked about this! he is in pain so let him be" Jin somewhat sternly said. Jungkook nodded. After few moments,
"Kevin, Let's eat, You must be hungry" Jin softly exclaimed. but Kevin didn't move a bit. The food is the last thing he wants right now. He want to disappear so badly. Without getting any response, "It's bad to stay hungry. You need energy" Jin softly explained, but he didn't get any reaction from him. "Kevin, eat something, you didn't eat well yesterday too" Jungkook said. With the silence, Jin changed his tone and said sternly, "Kevin, Get up" He didn't waste any more second to sat on the bed forgetting about how exhausted he is, "Sorry sir" "Good boy" Jin said and forward him the bowl. "Can I help you?" Jimin asked, but Kevin is fast to deny the help. He tried to lift the spoon with his hand, but because of the IV in his trembling hand, he is having a hard time. And he hates being the center of attention.
"Tae go and take rest, I'll take care of him. Jimin please go with Tae" Jin said leaving no room for discussion. Both agreed and left from there. Kevin sighed softly. He then put the spoon back and tried to remove the needle, "Don't" Jin said and crouched down removing the IV line. "Take it off" he softly and carefully said. He isn't like the suffocate feeling on his arm due to the needle. "Not now, eat it please" Jin directly denied. Jin knows he is in pain but he need the treatment. Kevin get three, four sips and he is already full. He drank some more with difficult, but he look back at Jin who is staring at him. Jin knew with the look he is full as he observe him keenly. "Are you done?" He asked earning a nod from him, "hmm, two more and done" Jin said, Kevin hesitantly did what Jin said. "Good boy" Jin take the bowl from him and tried to connect the IV line again. But Kevin take his arm, he didn't want that. He is fine. Because he felt much better than most of the days. "Give me your arm Kevin, you need it" Kevin shook his lightly, he is scared to deny but still he tried. "I didn't ask you, I'm telling you. Give me your hand" Jin said in calm but firm voice, Kevin obeyed instantly. He hate himself for not dying, but he hate the beatings. "Hyung!" Jungkook said in surprised. He isn't like how Jin is behaving with Kevin.
"We are leaving for hospital after breakfast, help him to get ready" Jin said to Jungkook. "Don't leave him alone." he mumbled to Jungkook and left from there. Jin can't take any risk of leaving Kevin in this vulnerable state.
"Are you okay?" Jungkook asked. Kevin nodded and lie down again. "I'm sorr-y for dragging you to a figh-t" Jungkook stuttered. Kevin really want some time alone, but he somewhere prefer human presence. "No, you didn't. I'm the one who hurt you." Kevin said.
At downstairs
"Joon, please go upstairs to Kevin's room. I'm scared to leave them alone" Jin said and Namjoon nodded heading upstairs.
"I'm going to the base today" Yoongi said. "I'm coming too. let's go together after Kevin's checkup" Jin said while sitting on the dining table. "But Hyung.." "Please Yoongi-ah I want to know." Jin's tired voice was one of the unpleasant thing.
"Hyung, eat something please" Jimin said and give him a plate. "Where is Tae" he is concerned about his brothers. "He is taking shower" Jimin answered. "Well, Let's eat then." Jin said,
"But others?" Hoesek asked. "I'll make sure they'll eat after. Now eat all of you" Jin said. After few moments of silence Jimin can't hold his insecurities.
"Hyung, who did that to him?" Jimin whispered softly, not wanting to anger up his already exhausted brothers.
"Don't know yet someone from that freaking gang" Yoongi said while gritting his teeth, "I'll make sure that bastard pay for it"
"Kevin is going to be fine right?" Jimin asked as he is so unsure about what's going to happen. "Yes of course, we have to help him and get him through it" Hoesek answered. "We can do that guys, He is still a kid" Hoesek said. "That's the thing I'm scared of Hobi, he is a kid. He might have severe problems" Jin said while taking a deep breath.
"We are going to try right? We aren't give up" Jimin asked. "Of course not, We are trying our best and will bring our little obedient Jungwoo back" Jin said.
