Chapter 23: Graduating College and My First Pregnancy

Well,it has now been 4 years since their accident,they all had recovered and today is my graduation day.I graduated with my best friend,Elizabeth. I did it,and now I just have to find a job where they need a good nurse. Alexis called in a few favors and so if I am up to it there is an opening in pediatrics where I can be a nurse at WMH and it is away from my floor so it shouldn't cause me too many issues and in a few years if I go back to school then I can get my degree and be a pediatric doctor it is my choice. But as of now I want to stick with what I have and try it. When we got home from the dinner we went to after my graduation,we came home and went to sleep it was a long hard day and we were tired and I got nurse scrubs from Alexis since I will work in 2 days. We had both wanted kids and I am 22 now and he is 25. We wanted to try for a baby but didn't know when except to wait until I am not a minor so any age past 20 and after college so we did it that night. Kiss me slowly,I told him. I love you,he said. I Love him and we are inseparable. About a month later,I woke up at 4 in the morning feeling sick,not to mention that I had been sick for the past week. I barely made it to the bathroom before I started hurling. This time it seemed as though there was no end to it. Joseph heard me and I hadn't wanted him to worry but I guess he will. Izzie,are you okay in there open the door,he said. I can't,I said because if I got up I knew I would start getting sick and then it'd be everywhere.Also,I'm fine go back to bed,I said. I'm not leaving you alone you are getting sick again aren't you,he said. He knew since I had missed work all week and have only worked 3 days so far but I loved it. I am but I am fine and I am a nurse I can take care of myself,I said before I had a bad stomach cramp. He found the spare key and opened the door,seeing me sick. We are going to the hospital,he said. Suddenly,I remembered I missed my period and getting sick,am I pregnant,I wondered. No,just go to the store and get me a pregnancy test,I said. So per my instructions he did. He brought it back and I peed on the little stick like it said too. 2 minutes later,there was a little ding and I looked at it and it said:............+Positive. I didn't have to wait it was just like that in a instant. I was pregnant with my first child and I guessed that I was around 2 weeks to 1 month. Joseph was in the kitchen so I went out there and sat down. Joseph,I'm pregnant with our first baby around 2 weeks,I said and started crying tears of joy. We were hugging. That is amazing,I am gonna be a father,he said. The next morning we went over to Alexis's house first and told her,she hugged me tight and was happy. We went to my old house and since movers moved my stuff I haven't been there since before my accident. We made my parents sit down and I told them. They were happy for me but things were kinda awkward even though they were my parents,I felt closer to Alexis and them asides from my mom. We left from there and went home. We called a few friends and decided that in a few months we needed to get the baby's stuff we would finally get to use one of our extra rooms upstairs. He or she will probably be in our room for a while. 2 months later,we went to a doctors appointment,my first baby one and we decided it would be at WMH and that was where I would have a C-Section beings we don't know what could happen during real labor so they wanted to go safe but I would still have my waterbreak like normal. Izzie Stevens,the nurse asked. We walked into the room together. I was almost done with the first trimester and was starting to get my baby bump. I was around 3 months pregnant I had guessed.They took me back and asked a few questions. They did an ultrasound, checking for my baby. Would you like to know the genders,she asked. Wait,what,genders,I asked her. Yes,sweetie,you seem to be having twins,she said.We nodded and she said,the first one is a girl and the second one also seems to be a girl. They checked their heartbeats which were strong and steady. I saw where one of my girls seemed to be comforting the other since they looked as though they were hugging. We left there and we had found out that I was off by around a month so I was actually 4 months pregnant. We went and told Alexis the news which she had smiled and told us congrats hugging us both. When we left there,we decided that we might as well go shopping so we went to the places around 30 minutes away from our house since I had to change clothes. I called my mom telling her the news and she was happy telling me,I will tell your dad and congrats love ya.Then we went and got food since I was half starved like always which makes sense because I am eating for 3 of us. We were up there and went to Wal-mart first and bought carseats,diapers,clothes, onesies,burp cloths,a diaper bag,wipes,binkys,bottles,a double stroller,toys and crib sheets along with 2 mattresses for cribs. We then went to Target and bought two natural wood cribs and two pink soft fuzzy blankets along with spares. I rubbed my stomach gently over my small bump and rested my arm there.We were going to take the back way home and there was one stoplight. We were there at the stoplight stopped waiting. There was a car next to us since it was a 2 lane road.All of a sudden we saw a car that was driving way to fast to stop. Joseph wrapped his arms around me to protect me and the babies.I was grasping his arms so tight that my fingers were turning white. Joseph,I yelled after hearing the noise when the driver driving to fast had hit the car next to us. Before I knew what I was doing and it wasn't the safest I jumped down and ran as fast as a pregnant lady can. I got the little girl out of the back of the car she didn't look to be older than 5. She was unconscious. I sat her gently in the grass. I went back and got her mother out although I am not supposed to do a lot of lifting I had too. Joseph,I screamed for him I needed his help to get her father the only one still conscious out. The people in the other car would live they had non life threatening injuries and got out of their car by themselves. I had her mother and her in the grass. I checked their pulses. They were still alive for now. He got the dad out. Joseph go get your phone and call 911 and stop traffic but be careful,I said. He went and called 911 while I tried to work frantically on the little girl this was my job I am used to it. All of a sudden, I had a horrible flashblack from my own accident. I was in the way and there was a car coming awful close that wasn't slowing down. Izzie,Joseph yelled for me.  I was stuck frozen still in the flashback. He ran quickly,tackling me,pushing me out of the way. He just barely got hit by the car. Joseph,I cried out. Shh...baby it is okay,he said rocking my back and forth in his arms.Oh,god,he said. Right before I passed out in his arms,I remembered my babies. Joseph,the babies,I said and lost consciousness. The ambulances were finally here and traffic had stopped. The took the little girl away with her dad and her mom by herself. They then took me. Joseph had gotten in the Jeep to follow them to TMCH. I woke not far from the hospital. Joseph,I cried out in fear.Where is he,I asked. He is in the Jeep following behind us we are taking you to get to the hospital,do you know what happened,the medic said. Another medic tried to reassure me as I was crying hysterically,panicking and upset. Yes,I sobbed. I then noticed that because of my little baby bump they had strapped me to the stretcher strange.I hope my babies are okay. At the hospital,Joseph met us seeming relieved that I was awake and seemed okay. They took me in and looked me and the babies over. We were alright,thank god. I made Joseph wait with me in the waiting room making sure the girl and her family was okay even though they were strangers I felt for them. A reporter came in to get our story live.We later got news that they were okay and would live. We were on the news everywhere.We then left the hospital and Joseph drove home. I checked my phone I had about 200 missed calls. Then I remembered that they were probably worried about us beings we were all over the news.I had calls from friends that were in high school with me,plus Elizabeth,Alexis,Kate, and my parents plus 3 from the hospital probably wondering about me. I called everyone letting them know we were all alright,that we weren't the ones in the accident,we witnessed it and saved lives. I didn't tell them about the other because I didn't want them worrying about my well being.We were so tired though so we went to Alexis's for dinner as planned and then went home and straight to bed today's events wore me out. About 2 months later,I was 6 months pregnant. Joseph had me go to the store to buy the new Racing 47 movie from the series. I went to Alexis's to meet him. We were supposed to eat dinner there. I looked at my watch and saw I was an hour late so I flew up the highway.I made it to Alexis's. I wasn't paying attention seeing that there was a lot of cars there. I opened the door with my key since the door was locked and the lights were off. Then again though I am late.That was kinda strange,I thought. Hello, I called out.I was running to the door and inside as fast as I could. Inside about 50 people I knew jumped out saying,surprise. It was my baby shower. I was late for my own surprise baby shower.It turns out that Joseph and Alexis had set it up. It was amazing. I went home after everyone else. I took a shower and went straight to bed with him.For the first time in several years I had a nightmare but when I woke up with him beside me I stayed calm and went back to bed peacefully with no dreams. I had plenty of stuff for my babies now and we just need to set up their nursery.
