Chapter 4
I woke up in my bed.
I woke up slowly, lightness trying to pierce the skin of my eyelids, I turned over in my bed, huddling I tot he warmth of the quilt, only to groan when the light became more intense behind closed lids. Sighing, one eye peeled open, hissing when the bright light that streamed through my window nearly blinded me.
I threw one hand over my face and sat up, feeling my bones creak in protest.
In my half asleep state I had forgotten what I had just gone through, when I did I jolted violently and one hand shot to my hip. I wasn't wearing my dressing gown, I stood and lurched to my wardrobe, seeing it there clearly; hung up untouched on a hanger. I shook my head, it was so real, there was no way...
My fingers trembled as they gripped the edge of my oversized shirt, drawing back the material until it reached near my chin and I could clearly see my hip in the light of day. There was nothing but smooth pale skin that glows in the sun that stared back at me. My breath whooshed out, my lungs collapsing as I sat down on the carpet. My hands came up to cradle my head; it had been one of the most real and intense dreams I had ever experienced.
Then I smiled. It must have been because of all the research and questioning I did that made me dream something like that up, it's a good thing my imagination didn't make it tear my throat out or something..
I nodded, standing up and looking at the time. It was a few minutes past nine o'clock. I had nearly an hour before Ilyana came to pick me up. I ran a hand through my tangled and matted auburn hair before making my way to the bathroom, I quickly brushed my teeth before hopping into the shower.
The warm spray of the water calmed me and reenergised me. I stepped out ten minutes later feeling great and wearing a faint smile. I dressed in a plain dark long sleeved shirt and a pair of deep blue skinny jeans as well as a tiger eye necklace that Edwin had got me for my sixteenth birthday.
I applied some mascara and some lip balm; I didn't bother with anything else, here was no need,my skin was pretty clear, my brows too thick and I was terrible at applying eyeliner in liquid or pencil form.
That's as good as it's going to get, I thought as I looked at my reflection. It was nearly half past now so I went downstairs to have some breakfast. Seeing as I had time I fried some eggs and made toast. I was strangely hungry this morning, normally I had to force myself to have some cereal or a nutri-grain bar or something.
I was washing the dishes when there was a knock at the door. I shoved the cup I was washing onto the drain, then sprinted to my boots beside the door, slipping them on and pulling my coat from the peg and throwing it on quickly. I unlocked the door.
Ilyana stood in a dark green coat that complimented her rich skin tone, wearing a wide pearly smile. I smiled back before my eyes widened "Wait, a second. I just need to get my wallet." Ilyana shook her head, snagging my wrist before I could bound off.
"No need." I shot her a questioning look. "Trust me." I nodded slowly, stepping out and locking the door, she was flouncing down the porch steps towards her rover. I followed after, shuddering at the cold air despite the sun being rather bright today.
"Come on, you turtle!" Ilyana shouted with a laugh as I trudged over. I fake glared.
"I'm still not used to walking through so much snow." I complained as I jumped into the rover, the engine purring as Ilyana took the wheel. She shrugged "You'll get used to it. I can't empathise cause I've done this all my life." I snorted as we began the drive from the outskirts of town towards the centre.
