ELISABETHS DRESS ON THE SIDE, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL

I apologise from the bottom of my heart about the huge delay with my uploading. I can't give any exact reason besides my terrible memory and the weight of getting grades. Once again, I am deeply sorry. But I'm trying to get a schedule sorted out so I can hopefully get back to the weekly upload, but I'm not sure yet😁

Anyway! Please vote or comment! It really means a lot to me, I swear. And, because of my long delay, I've added a nice juicy part here.

I've decided that this book will have about 50 or so chapters altogether. There's still a lot to solve. Look forward to it, my pretties😉

Enjoy!

Chapter 35

I felt my heart thundering in my chest as I gazed silently in awe at the grandeur around me. A tall, arched Renaissance ceiling loomed over us, pillars all around the large domed ball room. Val cradled my hand in the crook of his arm, guiding me further into the room as the string quartet in the corner drew their music to a close to the thundering applause of the crowd and those dancing gracefully in the centre.

I clutched his forearm tighter when my balance pitched precariously in the tall thin black heels. He shot me a barely concealed amused smile before focusing on bringing me to Wiliam. Both of them were dressed impeccably, slim black suits adorning their lithe frames and their hair slicked back smartly. Despite the fact that nearly all the men here dressed in the same way, none of them looked as dashing as these two.

Wiliam was stood off to the side, smiling down at a lovely pale haired woman. I wondered why he'd never smiled at me in that way, and then noticed that we were close enough now for him to notice us. His pale eyes glanced over at us before flickering back to the woman as she beamed up at him. "Highness," Val murmured as we took a space next to him. I had to fight my gaze from resting too heavily on the woman.

"This is the Lady Colleen of Marseille, my Lady this is my Attendant, Lord Valiant, and a guest of mine, Miss Elisabeth Shore." Lady Colleen turned her radiant pearly smile on me, I was nearly blinded. Her eyes were a pretty green that sparkled in the golden light of the ballroom, and were complimented by the soft lavender hue of her dress. "It is a pleasure," She cooed with a lilting accent.

Val softly kissed the back of the hand she held out, whilst I awkwardly shifted on my feet, mumbling, "It's nice to meet you."

"Take her off to explore, Val, and keep a watch on her." William dismissed us after a few awkward moments. Val cocked a blonde brow, before nodding his head compliantly and leading me away. "What was the point of that?" I hissed once we were a short distance away. Val sighed with a small smile, "I wanted to see how he'd react seeing you all dressed up.

I scowled, "Was it how you imagined?"

He reluctantly shook his ash blonde head, "No, not really," He admitted.

I was about to ask him what he meant by that, but he effectively cut me off by abruptly tugging on my waist and dragging me to the dance floor. My eyes widened in terror as he placed my hands on his shoulders. "I can't dance!" I croaked. Val just winked at me, the quartet slowly becoming louder. I peeled my eyes from Val and saw, to my dismay, that the dance floor was practically empty now, with couples retiring to the sides of the room or wandering up the stairs.

"Just go with the flow," Val whispered as he took a step back. My feet hastily followed, my skin burning with the firm hand he had placed on my lower back. My chest pricked uncomfortably.
