Another mystery guy, meh.

Mystery guy as Beni Anvrane

Please comment your thoughts or vote! It honestly would mean a lot to me, I'm starting to think it's just not going to work but..well, never mind.

Denali is pronounced Den-ah-lie.
Anokan is Arn-oh-kan also.

Once again, unedited!

Enjoy!

Chapter 10

We stayed at Fiona's for another hour or so. Once she had finished with my leg she went back through the main doors to deal with some customers; with a fluttering of bright clothing she disappeared.

Ilyanna sat by me for most of it, her fingers flying over the keyboard on her phone; typing furiously. I had no idea who to and was too drained to even take a peek.

She'd probably bite my head off as well.

A scowl had painted over her face and she shut her phone off, turning to me "I've got to go help my Mum with something but I'll be back in an hour." She narrowed her eyes at Denali "I have to pack some things anyway. How long will we stay at Beth's?"

Denali spared her a small glance "A few days until the threat is gone."

She nodded and, with a smile at me, left. I swallowed, eying Denali warily. He confused me.

One moment he was ignoring my existence, then scolding me then...teasing me? Was he bipolar or something?

I shifted my eyes from him when glanced over, focusing my gaze on the draws around the room, they were hazardously open and brimming with papers and string and things I could not recognise.

The draws were a faded light wood, I noticed, with surprise, that there were claw marks and chunks of the wood missing. One of the handles was also hanging off.

I fleetingly looked at Denali, nearly flinching when I met his eyes. "Me, Ilyanna, Jared and Beni will be at your house." He stated. I nodded.

"What about the others?"

He didn't spare me another glance, leaning closer to the flames that flickered and cast a glow over one half of his face.

"They'll be staying on Native grounds. If the Takotna are going to attack our lands then I'll still have some decent fighters that can hold them off log enough for the rest of us to get there."

"Not that it's any of your business." He added.

My brows crinkled but I ignored what he said "But how would you know?"

His lip twitched "We're a pack. We can communicate over a distance." My lips parted and my brows lifted. Like, in their heads? That was insane.

Not as insane as everything else you've experienced thus far.

I smiled to myself slightly.

Never had I imagined my life would go in this direction. If you had asked me a few months ago, no, a few weeks, I would have replied with something like 'Get a full time job here.' Referring to the company I was on trial for, or 'Become a full fledged columnist.'

I think moving to Alaska and nearly dying was as far away from those ideals as you could possibly get.

Sighing, I looked down, I faintly registered that I was still wearing the thin shirt and leggings I had gone to bed in. Right now the shirt was hanging nearly entirely off one shoulder, exposing a good section of my lilac bra.
