|Michael|

I was falling asleep in class. I couldn't help it-- I had only the bare minimum amount of sleep last night after leaving the gig. The image of Ashton pinning Halyn to the wall, forehead close to hers, noses touching, was playing on the inside of my eyelids. I could still hear the faint "I love you's." There was no way they were just friends like they claimed.

"Michael?" My teacher asks, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"Present," I say, sitting up a bit straighter now that all attention was on me. The class giggles. Shit.

"Michael, I asked you what the error was in Mr. Fuentes' equation. Pay more attention next time," she scolds before moving on with the lessons. I slump down in my seat. School is hell. My thoughts wander back to Halyn, and how I'm meeting her after school. The twinge of nerves snip at my mind-- what was I even going to say? This would be a long day.

The second the last bell rang, I rushed to get my things and get to my car. I found myself smoothing my band tee down and fixing my fringe to make myself look presentable. Driving over to Halyn's school was nerve wracking. I had no idea what would happen when we met for coffee. Hell, I had no idea what I wanted to happen. I pull into the parking lot and search the crowd for Halyn. I finally find her beside Ashton in a spot somewhat away from the majority of students.

"Fuck," I mutter, I couldn't think straight. Halyn must have noticed me, because she quickly kisses Ashton on the cheek and walks over to where I've pulled up the car. She was totally with Ashton, what the hell was I doing?

"Hey Mikey," she says flatly, getting into the passenger seat. Mikey? She called me Mikey. That was fucking cute, even if she sounded like she would rather die than be in my car.

"Hi," I reply, pulling out of the parking lot and turning on some music. I had left a Green Day album in the car stereo, so that's what began to play. We sit in silence during the drive to a little coffee shop, trying to pretend that there wasn't any awkwardness hanging in the air. When we get there, we go in and order our drinks, electing to sit at a table in the back corner.

"So," Halyn says, swirling around her coffee with a stirrer and avoiding eye contact, "what were you thinking?" Oh shit. She turned this all on me, how do I explain myself and not sounding like a complete and utter douche? I don't wanna be the one to start this conversation! Realizing that I'm taking a bit too long in my thoughts, I quickly start to speak.

"Well first of all you're very beautiful but I wanted to tell you that I had no intention of forcing you into something you didn't want to do and if I did, I'm really truly sorry. I don't want to take advantage of you. I also wanted to say that I didn't think what you did was slutty, cause you seem pretty chill and modest. I don't want you to think that I'm gonna try to get it in with you because of that first impression, too; If Ash is gonna be in the band and we'll be seeing each other sometimes I don't want it to be completely awkward and stuff, I want us to be friends at least." She takes a second to process my ramblings.

"Thank you for being so considerate and not thinking I'm a whore. Um, so we move forward as friends and put this whole ordeal behind us?" She asks, almost like it's too good to be true.

"Of course," I reply, giving a small smile. "So, Halyn, now that we're destined to be friends, I must know one thing." Halyn nods, curious.

"What is it?" She asks. I smirk, and ask her a very important question.

"Do you watch Pokemon?" I turn pink because, now she probably knows I'm a huge dork. Instead, she giggles.

"Does Caterpie evolve into a Butterfree?" She responds. My jaw drops.

"It's official, we can be friends."
