- 7-

Every five minutes, Butterfly's co-workers asked her if she was okay. By the time she got to work, everybody found out what happened to her. After the fifth person asked, she gave everyone else who asked an evil look.

She was in the lunchroom eating her turkey and cheese sandwich when her closest co-worker and friend Cynthia came in and sat by her.

They became great friends since she started working here a few months back. It scared Butterfly, since she had just got out of nursing school, but Cynthia took her under her wing and showed her the ropes. After that, they clicked almost instantly and became inseparable.

Cynthia picked at her Cesar salad and took a bite. She looked up at Butterfly and said, "I can't believe he did that shit to you. I would've whooped his ass and hers too."

Cynthia was always the type to whoop ass and ask questions later. Butterfly knew this, so she just laughed at her, and took another bite of her sandwich. "I know you would have. I don't know, was I that blind? He cheated on me the whole time we were together and I didn't know."

"Girl, love makes you blind. Believe me, I know," Cynthia said, taking a bite out of her lettuce.

Butterfly sighed. "I just feel lost. He was the guy I was going to spend the rest of my life with."

Cynthia raised her arched eyebrow. "Girl, I told you he was a dog and to not marry him. But did you listen to me, no."

"Thanks, for that I told you so." Butterfly frowned and took a sip of her bottled water.

"I didn't mean it like that. I just want what's best for you. Lance is not that guy. We're going to find you a good man. Just wait and see."

Isaiah's face popped up in Butterfly's mind at the mention of Cynthia's words, 'a good man'. I shouldn't go there with him. He did show me a good time though. I'll just go out with him as a friend. I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now just someone to hang out with.

"What if I already met someone?" Butterfly asked.

Cynthia stopped eating a moment and leaned in closer to Butterfly. "Is he fine girl? Does he have a nice package?"

Butterfly put her hands up. "Whoa, I just met him. But he is fine, and from what I felt up against my derriere, I'd have to say his package is just right. There's only one thing..."

  Cynthia's sepia eye's brightened. "What's that?"

Butterfly almost cringed at the thought of telling Cynthia what that one thing was. She knew Cynthia would figure it out anyway, so she just came out and said it. "He's the brother of the girl who had an affair with Lance."

Cynthia started laughing. She got a few stares from their other co-workers, but she was oblivious to them. "Girl, are you crazy? How can you go out with the brother of the girl that slept with your man?"

"I know it sounds crazy. But he really has been nothing but nice to me."

Butterfly explained to Cynthia all the nice things Isaiah had done for her. The paying to get her car out of impound. Taking her out on a date and making her feel special. Cynthia nodded her head as if she finally understood.

"Plus, it's not like I'm looking for a relationship with him. I'm just trying to have a good time," Butterfly said while taking another bite of her half-finished sandwich.

"Well, I want to meet him. You know I'm a good judge of character."

"Alright, why don't you and your man go out to the club with us sometime?" Butterfly asked.
