Isaiah

"What do you mean she found out?" Asia asked, with a death stare.

Isaiah had just found out that Butterfly knew everything. He didn't think he would start having feelings for the girl. The plan was for her to have feelings for him. Not the other way around. Now, he had to break it to his sister that the money they so desperately needed was nowhere in sight. Plus, Butterfly probably hates me.

Isaiah sighed. "She found out everything."

"How? Were my theatrics not good enough?"

Isaiah shook his head. "She had a tape recorder. You could hear us discussing our plan. How she got it, I don't know."

Asia rubbed her temples and crossed her arms over her chest. She couldn't believe their so-called plan was now a disaster. They had to come up with something fast if they wanted to survive.

"Do you know what this means?" Asia asked.

"I know. I know. We need the money. What if I go back into the dope game? That could get us the money real quick. We only have three more months to give it to them."

"You promised me you wouldn't go back. You promised mama before she passed away too," Asia said, with tears filling her eyes.

Isaiah got off the love seat and sat next to Asia. He wrapped his arm around her to calm her down. He kept telling her to take deep breaths since she was crying uncontrollably now. She was always so emotional, even when we were kids. When she finally calmed down, he spoke.

"There's no other way. I have to do this."

Asia looked at Isaiah with wide eyes, pleading with them, for him to change his mind. "I know this is all my fault. I should have never stolen all that money from Ricky. It was only payback for all those times he beat me."

"Calm down. It's all in the past now. Has he called you lately?"

Asia shook her head and sniffled. "No, but he will when the deadline draws near. What if we just run away from him?"

"You know he has his boy's watching us. If we tried to escape, he would torture us, until we wished we were dead."

Asia trembled at the thought of Ricky torturing her. Could it be any worse than all those times he tortured me with his fists? She shoved the thought to the back of her mind and concentrated on what their next move would be.

"Well, if you go into the dope game, I'm going too," Asia replied, with determination in her hazel eyes.

Isaiah glared at her. "No! You let me deal with it. You just keep going to school, and work, as if nothing is going on. Alright?"

  "Fine."

Asia knew what she had to do. She wasn't going to let her brother take care of it all by himself anymore. She needed to step her game up. It was, after all, her fault that they were in this situation. Oh how my mom is rolling over in her grave right now, she thought. She was going to enter the dope game whether he liked it, or not.

"What's up, man?" Isaiah said, giving his best friend Omar a pound.

"Nothin' much, just chillin'. What's good?"

Omar was surprised to hear the urgency in his boy's voice over the phone. Something must've had him really shook up if he was acting like that. Isaiah was always a calm and collected type of brother.
