Isaiah
"I already told you I'm innocent," Isaiah said.
Isaiah had been in holding for over two hours now. When he first got to the police station, they denied him a phone call. He wanted to call Asia so she would know what happened to him. Now he was stuck in a room with dim lighting, which smelled of sweat and fear.
David, the detective who'd been questioning him for the past few hours, slammed his hands against the steel table. He was already having a bad day, and this kid wasn't making it any better.
"Confess, so I can go home to my wife and kids." David continued to glare at Isaiah. He wanted to see him crack under the pressure he was dealing with him, but Isaiah was still adamant about being innocent.
Isaiah brought his hands up to his face and sighed. He didn't know how he was going to get out of this situation. He was actually more worried about Butterfly. He wondered if she actually thought he would try to kill Charles.
"I think I've been set up." Isaiah hoped that David could see the honesty in his eyes.
David put his elbows on the steel table. He intertwined his fingers and laid his chin against his digits. "There's a witness planting you at the scene of the crime."
"I watch enough shows on Investigation Discovery, to know it takes actual evidence to convict someone of a crime."
David stared at Isaiah long and hard. He leaned back in his seat and scratched at his five o'clock shadow. "Who do you think is trying to frame you?"
"Charles."
Maybe, I'm getting through to him.
"So, Charles shot himself just to set you up." David continued. "That sounds far-fetched to me."
"You don't know Charles."
Isaiah's last statement was wrong. David had been best friends with Charles for years until something happened to Charles that made him snap. David knew that Charles's father was so demanding of him. He was such a tyrant. He wanted him to be the best at everything. After all these years, David had hoped that Charles would have changed into the man he knew in high school.
"I think you better get yourself a lawyer."
David knew that once Charles was after someone he would do anything in his power to see them self-destruct. He felt sorry for the boy and wanted to help him, but he just didn't know how to do so yet.
Isaiah sunk down low in his seat. "I'm innocent," Isaiah mumbled.
David saw how defeated Isaiah looked. "I'll help you under one condition." There was a plan brewing in his mind and it could help Isaiah out in the long run. He was starting to believe in Isaiah's innocence.
Isaiah sat up in his seat. "What's that?"
"If I prove you're not guilty, I want you to go undercover for me."
"You mean-"
"That's right." David smiled. "Prove your loyalty to Charles and get him to introduce you to his famous drug ring."
Isaiah frowned. "He hates me though."
"Charles doesn't like you because you're dating his daughter." He continued. "Leave her alone and start getting him to like you."
"I can't give up on, Butterfly."
"It's your life kid." He shrugged. "Do you really want to go to jail for the rest of your life?"
