Ponyboy's pov
It's been a week since Kayla left and Johnny and I are tired of eating balonga and bread. I wish that Kayla hadn't left now because she could have drove us to get some food. I just hope that Dallas and Kayla will come soon. I've been reading gone with the wind to Johnny to pass the time. It's not helping much but I guess it's better than nothing at all.
Kayla's pov
I woke up in Steve's arms but it wasn't all lovely like it usually is.
As soon as we woke up Dallas barges through the door.
"Icy get up, I need you to come with me. It's about someone we know, an old friend he's sick." Steve looked at Dallas hard like he didn't trust him a lick and I don't blame him.
"Dallas I can't." I said looking back at Steve.
"Go ahead baby, just be careful. An Dallas if you try anything I'll kill you."
"I won't. Let's go." Dallas walked out of my room expecting me to follow. It was already almost noon so it can wait,he's really not that important.
"Come here baby girl." I walked over to Steve, he put his arms around me and pulled me close to him.
"I love you and I trust you. I don't trust him though. So take this gun and only use it if you need to."
"I will and I love you too." Then he kissed my lips. I lightly kissed him back. I walked out of my room and down the stairs to meet Dallas. We walked out to Buck's car,Dallas opened my door for me and I got in.
I looked over at Dallas and I realized that I was still in love with him. I realized that we had our history but we could never be together. It just wouldn't be right. I looked down at my hands and twidled them together as he drove very dangerously down the road. I didn't bother to ask where he was going because I already knew.
I knew we were going to see Pony and Johnny not an old friend of ours. It took an hour to get to Windrexville.
When we arrived I climbed out if the car since the top was down and followed Dally inside. It took a minute to find a way in the church, once we were inside I saw Johnny and a blonde Ponyboy I'll have to get uses to that.
"Hey Blondie wake up man." Dallas said and Pony droggily woke up and looked around. As soon as he saw me he ran to me and hugged me, then Johnny hugged me as well. I miss those too a lot even though Pony is a smart ass kid. I have to agree with Steve on that one because he's a complete smart ass kid. Then I saw Dallas give Pony a letter, it was from Soda, telling him about how he got into trouble and how he misses him.
I know because Soda told me he was going to write it and tell him that the gangs been missing him. It was so hard for me not to tell Soda where Pony and Johnny are hiding out. After Pony finished reading it Dally asked us if we want to go to Dairy Queen to get some real food. I rode in the back with Pony while Johnny rode up front with Dally. I knew they would want to talk so that's why I let him ride up front. I listened as they talked about how Johnny wants to turn himself in because Dallas had told him that Cherry Valance would testify that it was self defense. I felt sorry for Johnny because he also asked if his parents had asked about him. I knew they hadn't and I think Johnny knew it too. I think he asked Dallas if they'd asked about him because he needed to hear the reassurance from someone else, that he wasn't the only one who thought that. After an hour of talking in the parking lot we headed back to the church. I could see smoke in the distance. As we got closer we could see that the church was in fire and there were a bunch of kids outside the church and a lady said that there were some kids missing. Then Ponyboy jumps out of the car to save the kids, Johnny goes in after him. Then they end up handing the kids to Dallas. I just stood back and watched. I watched as Dallas pulled Pony out whose sleeve was on fire but Dallas put it out. Then I heard the terrible screams from Johnny
"PONY!! DALLY!!"
"I'M COMING JOHNNY."Dallas screamed back. Then next thing I know I'm following behind an ambulance that Pony is in. I really hope Johnny is okay. If he isn't the gang can't get along without him. When we arrived at the hospital Pony called Soda and told him what was happening. I waited patiently for the Curtis brothers and Steve to get here. After about twenty mintues I saw Steve I ran up to him and hugged him as tight as I possibly could. Then I looked over and saw that Pony,Darry and Soda were all hugging. I'm glad they are all back together. Then Jessica waddles in because she's pregnant and she's huge.
"SODA SODA MY WATER JUST BROKE." then she's rushed into a room so she can have her baby. I stayed along with Soda. I waited in the waiting room with Steve. I couldn't wait to meet my God Daughter, according to the doctor she should be here in a little while.
I was getting impatient when finally Soda came out and told us to come in.
I walked in with Steve and met a beautiful little girl in a pink blanket. They named her Joisane Marie Curtis.
Then we found out Johnny's injuries which were their degree burns all over his body, and Dallas has just a burn on his arm. It's a shame they're keeping him though he'll only terrorize the place. I just hope that Johnny can pull through. He's the gold that we need to all stay together,without him around nothing will be gold, all gold will be lost.
