Ponyboy's pov
When Johnny and I arrived in Wundrexville we couldn't find the Church. I ended up asking some worker close by where the church was and he told me. I lied to him though I told him we were playing army and I had to report to headquarters. I walked back to Johnny and we found the church.
I walked in and it was run down real bad, looked like it was bout to fall apart.
I laid down as soon as I got there so I could get some sleep.
I guess Johnny did the same. I was sleeping until I heard someone calling my name.
"Pony. Wake up." I looked up to see someone I didn't expect to see.
"Kayla! Your alive. How did you get here?"
"I've been here for weeks, I had to get out of town. How did you get here? Why are you here?"
"Johnny killed Bob Sheldon and I was with him, Bob tried to drown me so Johnny killed him. We went to Dally for help so he sent us here."
"Yeah I saw Dallas yesterday, he gave me a note from Steve."
"Wha'd it say?"
"I haven't read cause I don't want to cry. I miss him so much Pony."
"Well read it, I'm here at for you."
Then she took a piece of folded paper out of her pocket. As she unfolded it I had never seem her look so innocent, she always looked so tough like nothing could touch her. I swear she reminds me so much of Dallas it's crazy.
"Dear Kayla, I don't know if you'll read this. I don't even know where you are I just hope your safe wherever you are.
I love you more than words can explain. I want you in my arms at night, without you I can barely sleep.
(She teared up but continued to read.) I miss having you around when I wake up, I can't see your beautiful face. I can't kiss you when you wake up. I miss the touch of your hand against mine, I'd know that touch anywhere. It's crazy how I'm so in love with you when I used to only like you as a friend. I never thought that one accidental look in your eyes would make me fall in love with you. I only wish that you were here. I hope your safe, I can't imagine my life without you.
I can't wait for you to come back home, if your reading this please come home. I need you Kayla, please come back to me. Love Steve." She was crying her eyes out as she finished reading.
"Why did you have to get out of town?"
"Cause remember I was found by one of my dads jail buddies and I was attacked. I'm going back I have to Pony I'll be up here in a week with Dallas. I'm sure he's coming to check on y'all."
"Yeah he is. Be careful Kayla. An don't tell anyone we're here."
"I won't Pony." Then she hugged me goodbye and walked out of the church, a few mintues later her engine roared to life and she left. I watched her drive away until I couldn't see her anymore. I walked atound to explore the place and try to get some water. I hope that Johnny will be back soon.
Kayla's pov
I drove as fast as I possibly could to the DX that's where I thought Steve would be. I miss him more than words can explain. I tried to be tough and stay away but reading that note was the end of it. I had to go back to him. I drove for a solid hour and finally pulled into the DX. I saw Steve working in the back along with Soda, Jessica wasn't there of course. I walked to the back and tapped Soda, I held my finger over my mouth signaling him to shut up. Then he got up and whispered in my ear.
"Take my place." I nodded and stood in his place. I waited patiently for Steve to ask for a tool. It seemed like forever maybe even eternity.
"Hand me the wrench please." I looked around beside me and found the wrench, I handed it to him. I let my hand brush against his as I handed it to him. Then he took the wrench but he out it down an slid out from under the car. I guess he really does know the touch of my hand.
"KAYLA YOUR BACK!" He said shouting while getting up and picking me up. Then spinning me around, I missed this feeling. I was glad to be in his arms again.
"I missed you so much." I said.
"I missed you too."
"I read the note, that's why I came back. It was the sweetest thing I've ever read. I love you Steve."
"It came from my heart I meant every word. I love you Kayla."
"I cried when I read it."
"Never leave me again."
"I promise I won't." Then he pressed his lips to mine. I missed this too,more than he'll ever know. I kissed him back softly then he pulled away. I was finally back in the arms of the love of my life if only it could stay this way.
I know it will I can't be away from him again. I only want him in love him note than life itself. I wouldn't leave him for the entire world. I know he'd never leave me either he's the most amazing boyfriend I could ever ask for. I love him to death and I'll love him until the day I die.
