Your heartbeat was thunder in your ears.

The warmth of Bakugou's hands at your waist seared through the thin barrier of your swimsuit, grounding and electric all at once. The water rippled gently around the two of you, but it might as well have gone still. Everything beyond the space between your bodies faded, forgotten.

You could feel the heat blooming across your face, crawling down your neck, your skin prickling where his grip tightened just slightly. And when his fingers flexed, you swore your breath hitched.

Your body was already too warm. From the chase, from the adrenaline. But this... this was different. This was heat that pooled low in your stomach, spread through your chest, made your lungs feel too tight.

And then you noticed, Bakugou looked just as flushed.

His skin, already kissed golden by the sun, was tinged red at the tips of his ears and across the bridge of his nose. His gaze dropped for a heartbeat, down to your lips, before flicking back up to meet your eyes again. Sharper now. Less guarded.

You swallowed.

"You gonna let me go now?" you asked, voice too soft, a little breathless.

He didn't answer right away. Just stared at you like you'd asked the wrong question.

Then, voice low and rough, he said, "You don't want me to."

It wasn't cocky.

It wasn't a challenge.

It was just the truth, and it knocked the air out of you.

Your fingers curled slightly into his shoulders, anchoring yourself to the weight of him. "You're impossible."

"Yeah?" he said, the corner of his mouth twitching faintly. "Took you this long to figure that out?"

You rolled your eyes, but there was no bite behind it. Not when he was still holding you like that. Not when the water was cool but your whole body felt flushed and hypersensitive and pulled toward him like gravity.

A silence stretched again, thicker now.

His gaze dropped to your lips once more, slower this time. Yours did the same.

You didn't lean in.

Not at first.

It was subtle. Just the smallest shift of your head, like testing a current you weren't sure would pull you under.

Bakugou mirrored it.

Inches became fractions.

His breath mingled with yours, soft and warm between you. You could see every fleck of amber in his eyes, every twitch of hesitation written across his brows. He was close enough now that if you moved forward even a little—

Your noses brushed.

Then—

Then he closed the gap.

His lips pressed to yours, tentative at first, almost questioning.

But when you responded, when your hand slid up into his hair and your mouth moved with his like you'd been waiting years to do it, he deepened the kiss without hesitation.

His arms held you tighter, one curling instinctively around your back to pull you in, anchoring you against him like he was afraid you'd disappear. And you let him. You melted into him, into the warmth and weight and all the things unsaid that poured into the way he kissed you.
