Four days had passed since your meeting with Reina Fujikawa.
Things had moved considerably faster after that.
With voluntary access to Fujikawa Entertainment's records firmly off the table, the investigation had gone back through official channels. Information gathered from the wider Shadow Requiem case, combined with what you'd learned during the interrogation, had eventually been enough to secure limited authority to search and seize records connected specifically to Haruto and several of his old corporate accounts.
It wasn't everything you'd asked Reina for.
But it was something.
Investigators had spent most of yesterday inside Fujikawa Entertainment collecting what fell within the scope of the warrant. Archived financial records, company devices, internal correspondence and years of digital files were now sitting in the hands of police, Commission analysts and the growing taskforce assigned to Shadow Requiem.
Which meant there was currently very little for you to actually do.
You hated it.
There were thousands of files to work through, and until somebody found something worth following, you were stuck waiting.
Unfortunately, the rest of Japan had found plenty to do in the meantime.
"—continuing our coverage this afternoon, authorities have confirmed that records were seized yesterday from Fujikawa Entertainment as part of the ongoing investigation into the villain organisation known as Shadow Requiem."
Your face appeared on the television.
You stopped halfway through lifting your drink.
"Oh, come on."
The news anchor continued without concern for your suffering.
"While authorities have declined to comment on the specific nature of the search, sources have confirmed that the warrant concerned records connected to the company's late founder, Haruto Fujikawa."
The screen changed.
An old photograph of Haruto appeared beside footage of Fujikawa Entertainment's headquarters.
Then came another photograph.
You and Haruto.
You slowly lowered your drink.
"Do they seriously still have that picture?"
From somewhere behind you, Aiko answered.
"Apparently."
"It wasn't even a good picture."
"That's your concern?"
"I had terrible hair."
Ayumi snorted from the other end of the couch.
You pointed toward the television.
"Look at it."
"I'm not judging your hair in a news report about a villain investigation."
"Some friend you are."
The report continued.
"Fujikawa, who died three years ago during events linked to Shadow Requiem, had previously been in a relationship with Pro Hero Tempest, whose involvement in the organisation's renewed investigation has attracted significant public attention."
Footage replaced the photograph.
This time it was you and Bakugou entering the building several days earlier.
