Tumalbog ito sa sahig, then he took a shot like he owns the place. Swak, of course.
I stood there in my green cropped top blouse with a skirt matching the color of their jersey and shades like some basketball girlfriend aesthetic, kahit hindi naman official. Yet.
"Good luck," I told Dos while he was crouched down, tying his shoelaces. Suot pa rin niya 'yung binigay kong bracelet sa left wrist niya and on the right is my hair tie na inagaw niya sa akin. I noticed. I always notice.
"Yan ang winner," ani Raela habang naka-fold arms at nakatitig sa mag-jowa like they're some telenovela couple. Cringe.
"Sana all..." bulong ng katabi ko. Bigla akong nakarinig ng mga pang-aasar. Bubulong kasi ang lakas-lakas naman, or baka sinadya.
"Sola, may nagpaparinig."
"Syet, nainggit."
Cue Dos, the main character in his own delusion. With all the confidence in the world, lumapit siya sa akin na parang walang mga tao watching us.
"Joke lang naman eh," he said, after I gave him my signature side-eye.
He took a few more steps toward me. Gusto niya yata talagang mamatay today.
"Siyempre, si master ko 'yan, eh."
Napakunot-noo ako. Master daw ako? Aba!
"Basta andiyan si master, winner na kami sigurado!" he added, pointing at me like I was his lucky charm. Or his prize. Or both.
I crossed my arms, looking at him like I'm unimpressed, pero sa loob-loob ko? Gusto kong tumili. What the heck is wrong with you, Solana. Compose yourself.
"Make sure to win muna." I answered coolly, flipping my ponytail over my shoulder like I'm in a shampoo commercial.
But then, he leaned a bit closer, grinning, eyes locked on mine, and dropped the bomb:
"Tapos... akin ka na?"
Oh my God.
Tumigil ang mundo. Lahat sila napa-"OHHHHH!!!" like it was the plot twist of the year. Ako? I blinked. Smiled a little. Pero sa loob-loob ko, I was screaming.
If Papa or my brothers heard that, he'd be benched for life.
Good luck sa'yo, Dos.
Pero hindi siya nagpatinag. With that stupid confident smile of his, humarap ulit sa akin.
"Pag nanalo kami... akin ka na?"
Another round of reactions from the peanut gallery. Pero syempre, I can't show I'm flustered. Nope.
