Iris' POV:
Empty.
Iris felt empty.
She went to school not feeling anything but sorrow and cold, and for her, she hides it well. Ammie didn't know about it, Nate didn't know about it, Brandon didn't know about it, heck- ever her sister didn't know. She came home, on that saturday, as quiet as she can. She cried herself to sleep because she couldn't even let herself love for a prolunged time. Maybe because it was her first, or maybe because she was just unlucky. Either way, nothing changes how she feels in the present.
They were at the decorations meeting, and Hazel was setting up the banners. Iris was finishing up the fountain, and it tortures her to remeber the memories. She noticed that Mr. Reed was keeping his distance, not knowing what to say to her.
Hazel, on the other hand was struggling to keep her balance on the ladder she was on. Surely, it was steady, but the fact that she had to flex and move herself made it harder for her to keep on her toes.
"You alright there Hazel?" Jasmine, one of the people holding the ladder, asked.
"Yeah I'm good." She managed to say. She was getting nervous, scared of falling. She tried to contain it, but sadly she couldn't.
"On second thoughts, I think someone better should do this." She says, letting go of the banner. She goes down the ladder as quickly as she can. Until, her foot slips midway.
"HAZEL!" They scream. Hazel was now lying on the floor, struggling to get up. Iris, who heard the screams, immediately bolts up and disregards what ever she was doing. She ran towards the crowding people and saw that Mr. Reed was trying to help her.
Completely worried, she dashed to her and kneels down.
"Hazel!" She cries. Her sister was groaning in pain.
"My leg..." she groans out.
Worried sick, she cries out. "SOMEONE TAKE HER TO THE NURSE! NOW!" A group of people start running towards the door, running to find the nurse. Mr. Reed carries Hazel, and runs her to the clinic, Iris running behind. They go through the hallways, where Iris spots Nate running to Hazel.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?!" He yells out, seeing the condition of his girlfriend. He was now running with them to the clinic, finding the bearest bed to lay her with. The nurse dashes to Hazel, trying to see what was wrong.
"She sprained her ankle." The nurse announces. She immediately does what she needs to do.
"I would advise you to leave her be at the moment." She tells the three.
"Leave her be? She's my bloody sister!" Iris cries out. She need s to know if her sister is okay. And seeing her condition was making it worse.
"Please just wait outside." The nurse insists.
Nate and Mr. Reed nods, but Iris couldn't take it. "No, you don't understand. I need to know how she's feeling. I HAVE to know." She persists. Tears were streaming her face because of fear.
"She will be fine, Ms. Bennet. Just wait outside." She tells her. Iros couldn't take no for an answer, and the two boys knew it. Before she could do anything, Mr. Reed and Nate strained her away.
She was kicking and crying. She needed to see her that time. But when they finally got her outside, she knew that she wouldn't get what she wanted. She slows down, lessening her kicking and her tears went from cries to sobs.
Nate puts a hand on her shoulder. "Iris, you need some rest."
She looks at him, tears were streaming. "Rest? I can't fucking rest when my sister is in pain!" She scowls out.
