Chapter 18

Mitch's POV
I squinted my eyes as the sun shun in my eyes, indicating that it was morning. I groaned and sat up.
Today was gonna be really awkward. . . I don't even think I'll be able to look at Jerome without remembering last nights events.
I pushed the covers off of my legs and walked into the washroom, starting my every morning routine.

Once I was showered and dressed I walked out of my room, hoping I wouldn't run into Jerome. Luckily for me, I had the worst luck in the world. Jerome was in the kitchen, leaning against the counter with his head in his hands.
I tried to quietly walk back to my room, but Jerome had already noticed my presence.
"Mornin Mitch." He mumbled.
I jumped a little and stopped walking.
"Morning."
"Ugh, I hate bonfires." Jerome said quietly as he opened the fridge and pulled out a water.
I sat down in the lounge, praying Jerome would go back to his room.
"Did anything interesting happen last night? I can't remember much, hopefully I didn't do anything crazy." Jerome mumbled while gulping down some water.
"Um n-no. Nothing much h-happened last night. Don't worry." I stuttered nervously. This damn stuttering.
"Why do you look so nervous if nothing happened? Did someone find out about your abilities?" Jerome asked worriedly.
"No no, no one found out about my abilities." I said quickly.
Jerome sighed in relief and sat beside me on the couch.
"Then why do you look so nervous?" He asked again.
"I-uh. It's nothing. Don't worry about it."
"Mitch, I can tell your your not telling me something and I suggest you tell me what it is unless you want to be running 50 laps."
I gulped and looked away nervous.
"I-ah um well. . last night, uh-you were s-staring at me and then when we got back t-to th-the house, I-uh went to ask you why? And you, um, k-kissed m-me." I could feel my face heat up, I glanced at Jerome who seemed to be thinking.
"And that's it?" Jerome asked.
"Y-ya."
"Okay then, well I should go get ready for training today, seeya later." Jerome waved and walked into the his room.

I sat there relieved and confused. I was relieved he didn't ask anything else and confused why he didn't say anything about the kiss. Is this not weird for him or something?
I ignored the thought and sighed.
I wonder what training I'll be doing today.

                             * * *

"Alright Mitch, today were going to try to teach you to use your abilities on command. First, we'll start on that tornado thing you did." Tyler explained.
This isn't going to work.
I sighed and nodded.
"They key is to focus on what your trying to do, imagine yourself doing it." Jerome said blankly.
Ever since we left Jerome had been acting a little strange to be honest, he avoids eye contact at all cost, he barely even looks at me! It's probably because I told him about last night. . .
"Now try to imagine yourself creating a tornado or whatever." Tyler said as he walked back a little bit.
I sighed and tried to imagine me 'creating' or tornado. I imagined the air circling around me quickly. I closed my eyes and imagined me inside of the tornado.
I opened my eyes and surprisingly, it had worked. The air was circling around me quickly, picking up rocks and small stones that were laying on the ground.
I felt my feet start to rise off of the ground inch by inch. I was probably a meter off of the ground by now but the air still circled around me.
"I'm doing!" I yelled excitedly at Jerome and Tyler, who where watching a couple feet away.
"Now come down." Jerome yelled.
I nodded and started focusing on getting down. I slowly started to go down till my feet touched the ground. The air slowly stopped spinning around me. I walked over to Tyler and Jerome.
"Not bad." Tyler admitted.
"Thanks."
"Interesting, when you create a tornado you levitate. . . If you were to levitate high enough you could probably make an actual tornado." Jerome said almost impressed.
"I guess." I laughed nervously. Me? Creating an actual tornado? That knocks down trees? Impossible.
"Now we'll work on the throwing people thing. I'm not getting thrown this time though." Tyler said as he backed up. I laughed, remembering I threw Tyler into a tree last time.
I looked at Jerome who had a blank expression. He sighed and walked in front of me.
"Okay, I'm gonna try to attack you, you try to throw me. Simple." Jerome said. I nodded and got into a fighting stance.

Jerome lunged at me, I dodged him and moved to the side. Jerome came at me again, this time he punched my in the gut lightly. I gasped and backed away a little. His 'light' punches were still pretty powerful.
Jerome threw a punch at my head which I dodged, I could tell he wasn't trying very hard.
I quickly tried to knock him back with my abilities but instead I missed and hit a tree. Their was a loud cracking noise and I turned and looked at the tree. There was a large dent in the centre if the tree and a large crack. The tree swayed a little before falling in the opposite direction with a loud thud.
I stared, shocked that I was responsible for that.
"Well. I am glad that I dodged that." Jerome smirked and walked away.
I turned to Tyler who was a little shocked. And by a little I mean a lot.
"Holy crap. You just knocked down a tree." He said a little shocked and impressed.
"I guess." I laughed.
"Ya, ya he knocked down a tree. Cool. Amazing. Let's move on." Jerome said unimpressed. I rolled my eyes and turned away. What's with his attitude lately? Is he mad about last night? Ugh.
I shrugged it off and glanced at Tyler who was still staring at the now dead tree.
"Does no one else think that's kinda scary?" He said still shocked. I simply shrugged. Tyler glanced at the tree again then groaned and walked towards me.
"Okay, next ability. That flying thing you did." Tyler shooed.
I smiled and walked towards the centre of the clearing. I took a deep breathe then focused on going up.
The air started circling around me quickly and my feet lifted off of the ground. I watched as the ground started moving further and further away from me.
I stopped when I was just above the trees. I looked down at Tyler and Jerome. Tyler had an amazed expression on his face, Jerome wasn't even looking at me though. He was leaning against a tree with his arms folded. I saw him glanced up at me then look away.
Seriously what is his problem?
I leaned to my right and downwards so I was able to reach a large branch.
Just like last time, I stood on the branch and looked down at Tyler.
"I can fly pretty well already, it's not hard." I yelled at Tyler.
"I can tell, you look as if you've known how to fly for forever." Tyler laughed.
I smiled and stepped off of the branch. I shifted downwards then levitated up again. I rose way above the trees and I was soon able to see the whole forest.
Most of it were trees, but I could see the camp and I could even see my village. . .
I froze, remembering how much I missed my family. Remembering, how I hated this place and hating the fact that I was stuck here.
I looked down at Tyler and Jerome, who were now looking at my in confusion.
I hadn't even realized that air around me had begun to spin around me quickly.
I looked back at my village.
I could fly there if I wanted to. I could.
Before I could even do anything, I felt my breathing get heavy and the wind stopped spinning around me.
I looked down and watched as the ground came quickly towards me.
I was falling.
