Jerome's POV

Mitch has been gone for 2 days now and I've already called off the attack.

Many people were confused and had questions but luckily Tyler handled them.

Thank god for that.

I left this morning to go find him, or in hopes to find him.

Tyler and everyone else (aka Adam, Rob, Preston, etc) wanted to come with me but I told them no, it would be harder to travel as a big group. When it's just me I move quicker and make more progress.

I've been searching for any sign of Seto but had no luck.

I already scouted the entire western side of the forest, which didn't take very long since a quarter of it was occupied by our camp.

Now I was traveling the Northern side but had to be more careful, since there was a small village at the edge of the forest and I didn't want to be seen by anyone, it could blow my cover.

The worst thing that could happen right now is for anyone to see me, since I don't know if anyone's working with Seto.

I walked further into to forest, the cold wind blowing past me.

It didn't bother me much though since I was always hot.

With abilities like mine, it comes with the perk of always being warm, but it's only helpful in the winter.

The sun had started to set, but there was still plenty of daylight.

I continued walking, the branches scratched me as I climbed over fallen tree trucks & other from the occasional bird call or stray animal walking by, it was silent.

After a while I noticed something.

There was smoke coming from somewhere nearby, and there was a lot.

It was obviously from a fire, because the air was thicker and the air smelt like a horrid burning.

It was a strange burning smell, there was a sour stench to it.

Curiosity got the best of me and I started walking towards the smoke.

Not long after I saw the village-or what was left of it.

What once was a small, modern village was now broken buildings; which had burnt & crumbled to the ground, shards of glass and wood were everywhere. There wasn't a single building, farm or home that hadn't been destroyed.

And most gruesome thing of all, dead corpses were everywhere.

Some were in the ashes, some were simply in the middle of the paths.

Yes, it was terrible, but I'd seen worse so this didn't faze me.

I walked into town (or what was left of it) & looked around.

What happened here?

Glass shards crunched under my feet as I walked by the crumbled buildings.

The village wasn't very large since there were crops that took up a quarter of it. (Which had also been burnt down.)

There wasn't a single person alive from the looks of it.

Someone, or something had completely destroyed everything,
and then burned it all.

I walked over to one of the houses, which was mostly ashes and broken pieces of furniture.

There was something shiny sticking out of the ashes.

It looked like a picture frame.

I walked through the ashes and bent down, picking it up.
