Chapter 21
Mitch's POV
A bonfire was scheduled for tonight and I was still debating whether to go or not. The temperature had already dropped to -20 and I didn't want to freeze.
We already had supper and I was sitting in my room listening to music. I sat up and walked to the door. I opened it slightly and stuck my head out.
"Jerome?" I yelled. There was a couple seconds of silence before he answered.
"What?" Jerome yelled through the wall.
"You going to the bonfire tonight?"
"Yeah, why?"
"No reason."
"Hey ladies, I hate to ruin your stupid conversation but can you please SHUT THE FUCK UP." Tyler yelled angrily from his room. I chuckled and walked back into my room, closing the door behind me. I walked over to my wardrobe and pulled out a white long sleeve shirt, blue skinny jeans and a red hoodie. There wasn't much to do anyways so I might as well go to the bonfire. Jerome's going and Tyler's probably going as well.
I changed quickly and plopped down on my bed. I glanced at the clock, it was only 7:49pm. Bonfires usually started around 8ish. I sighed and stared at the ceiling for a while.
I glanced back at the clock, 7:52pm.
I sat up and walked out of my room and into the lounge.
I sat down on the couch and looked around. It seemed empty since Tyler and Jerome were in their room. Their was an uncomfortable silence throughout the house.
I looked around, and I noticed the office door. I totally forgot about it to be honest. I looked around one more time, making sure Jerome or Tyler weren't watching. I stood up slowly and quietly walked over to the glass door. I looked through the glass, it was dark inside but I could see a bookshelf, a desk with a chair, a lamp, some books where scattered around and a some sort of antique chest. I doubled checked, making sure Jerome and Tyler were still in their room, once I was positive no one was watching I grasped the handle. I turned the handle slowly and the door opened a little."Mitch!"
The sudden noise startled me, causing me to jump back. I turned around, a slightly angry looking Jerome was standing in front of me, closing the door.
"I thought I told you not to go in here." He said seriously.
"I-I. . I was curious."
Jerome sighed and grabbed my arm lightly, pulling me away from the door.
"I'm not angry, just don't go in there. Now come on, we're going to the bonfire."
Me, Jerome and Tyler walked out of the house and towards the bonfire. I shivered and pulled the hood of my sweater over my head. It was a little cooler now since it was getting dark. I could see my breathe and the cold nipped at my ears. I really hate the cold. On the other hand, Jerome and Tyler seemed unaffected by the change in temperature. Jerome was wearing a plain grey hoodie and Tyler was just wearing a black long sleeve shirt.
"Let's go for a walk before we head over to the bonfire." Jerome said.
We walked down the frozen trail, outside of camp. Jerome and Tyler walked beside each other, talking about the different kinds of plants and animals they saw as we walked. I followed behind them quietly. I didn't say much to Jerome or Tyler, I guess I was just distracted.
I hadn't even realized that we were in a small clearing now. I noticed that Jerome was gone and that it was just me and Tyler at the moment. I looked over at Tyler who was examining our surroundings. Once he saw me looking at him he smirked in a devilish way.
"Hey Mitch." Tyler smiled.
I kept quiet, knowing he was up to something.
"Look behind you." He smirked mischievously.
I gave him a confused look before turning around slowly. I was expecting something horrifying or embarrassing but instead I was greeted by a gallon of cold water being dumped on top of me.I stood there, shocked and cold. My clothes were soaked and I could feel my clothing start to cling to me. Tyler was laughing behind me.
"Tyler for god's sake you couldn't have been good for one minute?!" Jerome yelled as he approached from the tree's.
Tyler continued to laugh as Jerome walked over to me. I stood there, to cold to really do anything.
"Mitch are you okay?" Jerome asked, sounding genuinely concerned. He probably thought that Tyler had tried to injure me in some way. I nodded my head no.
"Here, take off your sweater, I'll give you mine." Jerome instructed as he quickly took his sweater off.
I pulled my now soaked sweater off and threw it on the ground beside me. Jerome gave me his sweater and I held it hesitantly.
"But I'll get it wet." I said.
"Mitch, it's fine just put the damn thing on. You'll freeze if you don't. Even though it's just the beginning of winter it's still pretty cold. Now hurry up and put the sweater on and we'll head back to camp." Jerome said as he picked up my sweater and through it to Tyler who was still laughing.
I sighed and pulled Jerome's sweater on. Jerome's sweater was big on me and it smelt like his cologne. Call me crazy but it felt almost comforting to wear Jerome's sweater. My wet long sleeve shirt dampened the sweater quickly.
"Tyler come on where going back to camp." Jerome said. Tyler had stopped laughing now but he still had some smart ass smirk plastered on his face. Suddenly, my feet where no longer touching the ground, but it wasn't because of my powers. Jerome was carrying me bridal style as he began walking back, Tyler followed.
"I can walk you know." I commented, slightly annoyed that I was getting special treatment that I didn't exactly need. To be honest I didn't mind it though.
"I know but you'll be warmer this way." Jerome responded.
I knew better not to argue with Jerome, I wouldn't win the argument anyways so I just let Jerome carry me back to camp.
