Chapter 24

Mitch's POV

I couldn't believe it, I didn't believe it. My dad isn't and wasn't the original captain. He couldn't have been, it was impossible. How could he have started this group? Sure my dad wasn't home all the time but he couldn't have been here.

I knew Jerome was watching me, probably waiting for a reaction. I stayed still in my seat, eyes glued to the floor. The room was silent, everyone was probably wondering who 'Alex Hughes' was if they didn't know already. I stayed quiet in my seat and waited for Jerome to continue.

"If you have any other questions ask you trainers. Now, the mission will begin in 2 weeks. Everyone will split up into groups of 2, the plan is to first locate where Seto is so everyone will be scouting the forest. Once we've located were Seto is, we'll surround and kill him. You can get more information about the mission from your trainers. That's all for now." Jerome finished.

Everyone quietly stood up and left. I never moved a muscle. Eventually, it was only me and Jerome in the room.
"Mitch?"
"What?" I mumbled weakly.
"Do you want me to explain?"
"Please." I whispered. Jerome got up from his chair across the room and sat in the chair next to me.

"I'll start from the beginning.

Your dad he abilities just like us, except he had 'earth' abilities. He could pretty much control anything on earth, except for humans.

He knew Seto was experimenting on people and he knew Seto was creating an army of some sort because when Seto took him that night he remembered seeing maybe hundreds of, zombie-like creatures being controlled by Seto. He guessed that Seto was up to something terrible so he created this camp.

I became the co-captain so I knew your dad pretty well. He told me about his abilities and he said that Seto might be take others and give them abilities as an experiment. He believed that Seto was watching him, testing to see if the serum he injected into him worked. He thought Seto would use the serums in the future to make his army stronger.

Anyway, we started kidnapping people because we knew no one would join voluntarily. Anyone that refused to cooperate was killed because we couldn't risk them telling anyone about us. It would ruin everything your dad worked for.

Eventually we had over 500 men and we were going to try to find Seto but he found us first. It was chaotic, Seto had created an army using the dead. He was using dark magic to control them. He attacked us the day before we were going to the mission. We never saw it coming, over half of our men died. Seto disappeared after the attack but a month afterwards he took me and injected a serum in me, giving me my abilities.

Your dad was dead before I got my abilities. During the attack he disappeared and I found him in a field. Seto had done something or injected something into him and it made him go mad and he ended up killing himself." Jerome finished.
I sat there, taking in all of this new information. My breathes were shaky and it was getting harder to hold back tears. I never thought my dad would have created this camp or that he would've been killed by Seto.
It was so overwhelming.
We sat there in silence for a while. Every now and then I could feel Jerome watching me.
Eventually I calmed down and regained steady breathes.
"I should go." I whispered, not knowing what else to say. I stood up slowly from my chair and headed towards the door.
"Mitch?" Jerome called.
"Ya?" I mumbled.
"Will you still take part in the mission?"
I paused and thought for a second.
'Will you still take part in the mission?'

I sighed and turned towards Jerome.
"Yes. I'm going to finish what my dad started."

Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that there will be a second book!
