Chapter 23

Mitch's POV
I knew it was wrong to like the captain, but I couldn't help it. After last nights events I could feel my feelings growing for him. I knew that I found Jerome attractive when I first arrived here but I never thought that I, Mitch Hughes would have feelings for Jerome Aceti, the man that basically kidnapped me.
The only problem now was that I had no idea if Jerome liked me back and to be honest, I had no intention of finding out. If I did tell Jerome I liked him, he might reject me or worse, kill me.
Even though we're friends, Jerome was still the captain, the man know as 'The dark one,' the guy that had killed maybe hundreds of people and I'm 100% positive that he won't want some lovesick puppy following him around.

I pulled my sweater over my head as I walked out the door. Training had been canceled today, instead we're having a short meeting. We never had a meeting before so I was curious as to why we were having one all of a sudden.
I walked towards the small building Jerome had instructed all of us to go to for said meeting. I pulled the door open and stepped inside. They're was a large wooden table in the centre of the room and matching wooden chairs surrounded it.
I noticed that everyone was here already, the trainers were here as well. I walked over to the table and sat down in the last available seat.
There was a few seconds a silence before Jerome spook.
"Alright everyone, I'm just gonna get straight to the point. I've called you all here to inform you that your training is over."
There was a chorus of small "yeah!'s" and "woohoo!'s" throughout the room.
I don't know why everyone was happy about this, I was confused. Now what?

"Now we start with the mission." Jerome continued.

The room went silent.
The mission? What 'mission?'
I looked around, everyone was just a confused. Aside from the trainers.

"The reason we kidnapped you, trained you, disciplined you, was all for a reason.
All of the soldiers here have gone through the same training, some didn't even survive in this camp.
All of them are aware of the mission and what it is. Those who didn't want to be in the mission were killed.
Let me tell you this now, this mission will be life threatening, and you might not make it out alive. If the mission goes well and you do make it out alive, you'll have a choice. You can stay here at camp, or go home."

"What's the mission?" I asked. Jerome glanced over at me.

"We're going to kill Seto."

Kill Seto? He's just a sorcerer, is he really life-threatening?!

"Who's Seto?" Rob asked.

"Seto is a sorcerer. But unlike most sorcerers he uses dark magic. The most dangerous kind a magic.
He can create terrible creatures and deadly potions. The main reason dark magic is the worst kind of magic is because the sorcerer is able to raise the dead. He could create an army if he wanted." Jerome finished.
I sat there shocked, I never thought Seto was capable of that.

"Seto hasn't tried to attack us or anything so why are we trying to kill him?" Preston asked. Jerome sighed, he had a pained expression.

"In the past, Seto attacked us and killed half of our men. He was also responsible for the death of our original leader." Jerome paused, as if he regretted saying the last part.

Original leader?

"Who was the original leader?" Rob asked. Jerome looked at me with an almost sincere expression.

"His name was Alec Hughes."
