Chapter 26
Mitch's POV
I followed Jerome away from the crowd and towards the camp exit. Why were we leaving the camp? What was important that we had to leave the camp? I ignored the thought and continued to follow Jerome. We walked through the woods, I stayed quiet the whole time.Eventually we stopped walking and the camp was no longer in sight but was it really necessary to be all the way out here? What could be so 'confidential' that we had to come all the way out here to talk?
Jerome turned around and faced me. It was a little difficult to see him clearly though, the only thing keeping us from complete darkness was the moon which shun brightly, illuminating the sky above us.
"Mitch, there's something I've been wanting to tell you."
"Okay, what is it?" I ask, slightly annoyed that he brought me all the way out here just to tell me something. I brush it off though and wait for him to speak. I watch as Jerome's mouth opens to say something, but nothing comes out. Something's bothering him, I can tell. He seems nervous about something. . . He's hesitating, as if he was re-thinking something.
"Jerome?" I whisper. He looks down at his feet, then turns towards me.
"I needed to tell you something, so I brought you out here."I stayed silent and waited for him to continue. His eyes meet mine for the slightest second before looking down at his feet again.
"Wow this is harder than I thought it would be." Jerome sighs.
Why is he so hesitant?
"Why can't you just tell me?" I ask. Jerome exhales deeply and turns towards me.
"It'd be better if I showed you."
"Show me wha-" Before I could even finish my sentence, I felt Jerome's lips crash into mine. Wait, what? It took a second for my mine to process what was happening. Jerome was kissing me. After realizing that, I almost instantly kissed back.
