PS: To whoever wants to finish my 'Cry For Me' series by continuing the first three chapters that I wrote, I'm allowing you now and please if you may... mention me as a little nod to my incomplete work.

DESCRIPTION: Two strangers who met because of a hiking accident, find themselves connected in a similar pitiful experience.

START

You are living alone deep in the highlands, where the trees whispered secrets and fog hung like ghosts at dawn. Your cabin stood weathered but solid, hidden between pine and silence. Life was simple: chop wood, hunt, cook, read, repeat. Peaceful. Predictable. Solitary.

You liked it that way. Better than the one he abandoned and still trying to let go. Atleast, in here... the wind didn't talk back, and the cold didn't judge.

Out here, it should be easy to forget the world, and you intended to try and keep it that way. You had long ago decided that people weren't worth the risk of anything just so you can make them feel valuable and important. They took more than they gave, and you are now done giving.

One busy afternoon, you were washing dishes when suddenly time seems paused and sound carries far. You froze as you sensed something strange. It's not the wind, nor a branch or from an animal.

There was a knock on the door. It was then followed by more.

You grabbed your machete from beside the door and stepped silently to the window. Your eyes dilated in surprise. A woman stood there in front of your doorsteps. She looks young, dirt-smeared, clothes were torn, and her hand is pressed to her side where blood seeped through.

You went closer to the other side. "Who are you and what do you want?" you called through the door.

"I'm... I'm lost. I need help, please."

Her voice trembled. Not quite fear... but pain.

"You'll have to leave. There's no help here.", you said in a stoic manner.

"Please," she gasped. "I'm bleeding, it stings."

You hesitated as you were about to distance yourself away to the door. Her jaw clenched. She staggered slightly. Her knees buckled, just all she can do to endure the pain.

You cursed under your breath and opened the door, grip tightening on the machete in hand.

She backed away instinctively, eyes wide at the sight of them holding a weapon that adds to your intimidating aura. Cold. Unblinking. Armed.

"I won't hurt you," you said flatly in a deep voice. "Come inside."

She nodded immediately and obeyed without a word.

You closed the door and inside, you assisted to set her on the chair near by the fire. Inspecting her vulnerable state, she does look requiring for an urgent emergency assistance. Her wound doesn't seem pleasant so you quickly retrieved a first-aid kit.

You kneeled in front of her. and began opening the box to retrieve its contents for medical use. "What happened?"

"Slipped down a ridge. I wasn't careful."

"Clearly," you muttered. She was instructed afterwards to raise her shirt a bit and there goes the full view of her badly took wound.

Clicking your tongue, you dabbed antiseptic onto the wound. She winced and mouthed hurt reactions but she didn't flinch.
