The door to the café opened, and a tall man walked inside.

"Oh," squeaked Tanizaki after turning around to see who came in. "Gladyou could make it. What took you so long?"

"You're late," commented Kunikida after looking over at the newarrival. "The newcomer you invited caused a scene while you were outdoing who knows what. Hurry up and take care of it."

"Just when I was feeling glad that my counterpart does not have to put up with an idiot." Kunikida grumbled while Oda smiled sheepishly at him.

The tall man scratched his head and muttered, "Yeah, sorry about that."He tottered over to their table, faced the waitress who had tripped amoment ago and was exhaustingly wiping the floor, then quietly placed hisorder: "I'll have the curry."

"At least you apologize." Kunikida said throwing a glare at the direction of a certain brunette.

He then took a seat next to Akutagawa. Dressed in a sand-colored coat, the man had reddish-copper hair and a five-o'clock shadow. It was difficultto get a read on him from his expression. It always seemed that he was bothconcentrating on something, yet thinking about nothing at the same time.

"So? Why were you late, Oda?" asked Kunikida.

"The old lady at the tobacco shop down the street kept talking andwouldn't let me go," Oda said simply.

"Again?" Kunikida frowned. "Chatty old folks really seem to like you.At any rate, although it's wonderful that you respect your elders, you can'tbe three hours late to work. You have to start saying no to them from timeto time."

"I did. Nobody takes me seriously," Oda replied, looking incredulous

"Nobody will if you keep looking like that." Kunikida commented again.

"Hey is it just me or is Kunikida being annoyed at Oda-san because of the slight similarities between him and Dazai-san?" Tanizaki whispered to Yosano and Ranpo.

"I really can't tell when you're being serious sometimes...," repliedKunikida with a troubled stare. "At least make it look like you're notenjoying yourself so they'll realize you want to go home."

"I do, but nobody notices."

"Really? Show me."Oda stared blankly at Kunikida in silence. After a few seconds hadpassed, Kunikida's expression turned suspicious, and he asked,

"How muchlonger is this going to take?"

"I'm doing it right now."

"Oh... Uh-huh...," replied Kunikida with an exhausted sigh.

"Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha. That was you being annoyed?!" Everyone minus Oda burst into laughter making the person in question slightly red.

Tanizaki noticed the troubled looks on their faces and tried to change thesubject."Uh... Akutagawa, I'm sure you already know who he is, but allow meto formally introduce you. This is Sakunosuke Oda. He's been a detective atthe agency for two years now, and from today on, he's going to be yourmentor."

"Oh no wonder you're so uptight. Well I mean it could be worse like for example if Kunikida was your mentor next." Dazai commented.

While the ADA members were laughing by imagining Akutgawa taking notes like Kunikida, the man in question was strangly Dazai.

"I look forward to working with you, Oda." Akutagawa bowed his headreverently."Me too." Oda nodded without changing his expression.

"You beeneating?"
