Chapter 37 (Chapter 3 part 12 in the novel)

The silver wave of fabric that followed Akutagawa's fist devouredAtsushi's hand and swept it away. 

"Uwaaaaaahhhhhh?!"

"Why has this kid's vocabulary reduced to only Uwaaahs and ohhs" Chuuya asked annoyed while Tachihara was cackling at the back making Beast Atsushi embaressed.

 Even the choker around Atsushi's neck was swallowed by the torrentand shattered. The entire rooftop was engulfed by a silver light as thevibrations spread throughout the building, shaking the furniture inside likean earthquake. The cannon-like sonic boom, with its accompanying ray oflight, was so tremendous that it could be felt anywhere in the city ofYokohama.There was not a single thing moving on the ravaged rooftop by the timethe impact had calmed and the scattered debris settled.

"That ability is indeed powerful and useful. Interested in joining the decay of angels?" Fyodor asked Akutagawa, ignoring the overly excited Nikolai. 

"I refuse." Was the only answer he got.

"I'm afraid you're a bit late Dostoevsky-kun" Mori said "Now he's part of the port Mafia."

  Atsushi was lying on the ground. A blade of fabric had destroyed hisentire body, starting with his right arm. He no longer even had the strengthto stand. His ability to regenerate had dramatically suffered through the lossof his choker that controlled the tiger. It was taking everything he had justto maintain a pulse.

"I'm extremely sorry." Beast Akutagawa apologized to Beast Atsushi who dismissed it with a wave.

"It was in the past and if we start apologizing for everything that happened then I don't think we'll be able to stop anytime soon." Beast Atsushi said.

 Akutagawa stood completely still. He had lost far too much blood, andstaying on his feet was no small task after repeatedly using his skill until hefrayed his nerves. Nevertheless, he did not lose consciousness.Akutagawa somehow managed to drag his wound-riddled body over toAtsushi. 

"Kill...me...," Atsushi repeated while wheezing. "There's no way...Ican keep my promise...with the director now. At the very least...I can atonefor it...with my life." 

"I wonder how you even got into the mafia with that attitude. It's pure cowardice to atone one's sin with their life." Chuuya snapped.

"I apologize Chuuya-san. I now understand that." Beast Atsushi replied.

His expression twisted with an emotion other than pain. He didn't havethe strength left to resist. Taking his life would be a simple task. Akutagawastood right next to Atsushi and glared down at him icily. 

"Very well."

 Akutagawa placed his foot on Atsushi's throat, then slowly beganleaning into it.

Everyone in the reaction room held their breath. Not just because of the scene unfolding before their eyes but because I certain ginger head looked ready to murder someone.

 "Gw—Ah...!"

 Atsushi's face twisted in agony as the pressure squeezed his bloodvessels and respiratory tract, but he didn't even have the strength to lift uphis hand and resist. If Akutagawa continued to shift his weight ontoAtsushi's neck, he could easily kill him by cutting off his oxygen supplyand interrupting the blood flow. 

"...ector..." A small tear gently rolled down the corner of Atsushi's eye."Director... I'm sorry...I didn't become...a student...you could be...proudof..." 

"..."Akutagawa looked down at him in silence, his gaze faintly wavering. 

"Forget it."He took his foot off his opponent's neck. Atsushi immediately startedcoughing and stared at Akutagawa with evident bewilderment. 

Everyone in the reaction room, except Fyodor of course, let out a sigh of relief.

"Why...?" 

"My job at the detective agency does not include helping those with adeath wish," 

Akutagawa explained before he began staggering over to theexit. Atsushi followed him with his eyes. 

"Running away from your past and being frightened of yourself is abattle of its own... Cough up your blood, Tiger. Spit it out and moveforward. One day...should you fall to the ground after your fear and yourrunning conquer you, I shall step over your body and mock you." 

All of a sudden, there was hollow applause.

 "Congratulations." 

"Oh my god. Why tf are you here? It was going great until you showed up. I'm so annoyed." Chuuya said.

"I'm flattered you think so highly of me Chibi." Dazai said with a mock flustered expression making the ginger head scream in frustration.
