Chapter 29 (Chapter 3 part 4 in the novel)

"That emotion...is guilt," wheezed Akutagawa as his shoulder was pinnedagainst the wall. 

"Ah..." Atsushi's eyes lost their focus. "Ah... Ahhh... Ahhhhhh...Ahhhhhhhhh...!" 

"Okay....he officially lost it." Tachihara said making evevryone glare at him.

He screamed and threw Akutagawa into the air. Akutagawa's body bentinto unnatural positions until it hit the ground; then it bounced once morebefore rolling by a window near the corner of the building. 

"That looks really painful. Do you want me to treat it?" Yosano asked.

"No thank you. That was long time ago and I completely healed." Beast Akutagawa quickly said, shacking his head vigorously. 

Atsushi landedon his body as he lay face up. He straddled Akutagawa tightly with his legsand punched him over and over with both hands like a meteor shower. Thefloor under Akutagawa slowly cratered as concrete scattered in everydirection. Akutagawa was no longer even attempting to use his overcoat fordefense. It was absolute destruction, far more than any human could take—like a planet being engulfed by countless meteorites.

"Sorry about that." Beast Atsushi apologized as he flinched at the scene before him.

"It's fine." Beast Akutagawa said.

 "You're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong!" bawledAtsushi as he punched Akutagawa. "I didn't know! I didn't know...anyother way...!" 

"A common excuse used by weaklings," Akutagawa suddenly mumbled.There was a dull sound. Atsushi's arm was severed at the elbow, leavinga trail of blood as it rolled across the floor. 

"Why is it always my arm?" Atsushi mumbled.

"...?"Fabric blades wriggled around Akutagawa's body as if they had sprungback to life before immediately piercing Atsushi's shoulders, stomach,throat, and thighs like a spear, pinning him against the wall. 

Atsushi gave a look to Akutagawa that said 'seriously bruh?'

"What can I say, you look like a human pincushion." Akutagawa replied, his tone indifferent 

"Gwah...!"Akutagawa slowly stood up like a ghost. Blood was dripping downevery part of his body, but he walked with purpose. 

"How...?" muttered Atsushi while gurgling blood. "After...all...that..."

 "I slit open my own skin before you punched me. I then created a tear inspace itself to prevent your attacks from reaching my muscle and bone,"revealed Akutagawa while rubbing his skin. 

"Have you never heard the fact that magicians never reveal their tricks? Learn from me." Nikolai said

"But you're a clown." Sigma said making Nikolai pout and mumble something that sounded suspiciously like party pooper. 

"This was my trump card. Myfinal line of defense. I certainly wasn't expecting to use it so soon, though." 

The blades piercing Atsushi's body began to twist and expand, causinghim to scream as the fabric raked his flesh. 

"A skill user fueled by fear and atonement...," began Akutagawa as heapproached Atsushi. 

"It's not difficult to imagine your fear. Nothing in thisworld is worse than regret. Living one's life always wondering 'If only Ihad done that instead' is pure hell." 

That statement hit home for a lot of people present there.

Atsushi's face trembled with fear. Akutagawa continued approachinghim with a razor-sharp glare. 

"However, at this moment, all you are to me is a barrier between me andmy sister. I never wish to regret again. That is why I must cut you down andcontinue forward."Akutagawa's blade turned into a guillotine and rose into the air rightbefore Atsushi's eyes.

"I am so sorry and I don't mean it." Beast Akutagawa said.

"Then prove it." Beast Atsushi whispered in a teasing tone.
