Epilogue: Yuan and Yuri
“Yuri! Yuan! Wake up, boys! You’ll be late for school!” Zhan’s voice rang out from the kitchen, sounding part frantic and part amused as the morning rush began. The sizzling sound of eggs hitting the pan mixed with the aroma of toasted bread and the sweet tang of strawberries being sliced. Breakfast wasn’t just a meal—it was a ritual in the Wang-Xiao household, a grounding moment before the day took off.
In the twin’s bedroom, the two boys stirred in opposite ways.
Yuan groaned under the blanket, dragging it over his head like a vampire avoiding daylight. Yuri, on the other hand, sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes with exaggerated movements, blinking like he’d just been plucked from a movie scene.
“Yuan,” he mumbled sleepily, “use Dada and Baba’s bathroom. I’ll use this one.”
Yuan responded with another groan, muffled and wordless.
Forty minutes later, they were both dressed and ready—not in uniforms, though. Today was different. It was their first day as sophomore students, and their school had declared it a casual dress day to welcome them into the new school year. Yuan wore a navy-blue hoodie over a clean white shirt with jeans and sneakers that still had the tag dangling from one lace. Yuri, of course, had styled his hair with extra care, wearing a black bomber jacket, slim-fit jeans, and his signature silver earring.
As he entered the dining room, Yibo was already seated, sipping his morning coffee and flipping through a few emails on his tablet.
“Morning, Baba,” Yuan greeted, his voice low but gentle.
Yibo looked up with a warm smile. “Morning. Where’s Yuri?”
Yuan shrugged and grabbed a glass of orange juice. “No clue. I think he’s still in the closet—literally.”
Yibo chuckled. “Figures.”
Zhan appeared a moment later from the kitchen, apron tied around his waist and plate in hand. “Morning, baby,” he greeted sweetly as Yuan slipped behind him and hugged his waist.
“How’d you sleep?” Zhan asked, setting the plate down.
Yuan sighed, placing his chin on Zhan’s shoulder dramatically. “Yuri’s so loud, Dada. He was gaming until midnight. I couldn’t sleep. My brain is tired already.”
Zhan laughed softly and patted his cheek. “Don’t worry. The workers are already fixing the two new rooms. Since you guys are getting older, you’ll have your own space soon.”
Yuan straightened up, eyes sparkling. “Finally, Dada! I need peace in my life.”
Zhan shook his head, he cannot really figure out where his sons got their attitudes. Yuan rarely speaks like Yibo but sweet and clingy like him. He a bit aloof to, choosing to stay at home and just read book whenever he gets the chance.
On the other hand, Yuri is the exact opposite. He's more like a loud, cheerful, and happy-go-lucky guy. He prefers to spend his time with his friends, go out shopping, or go to coffee shops and explore all kinds of coffee around.
The kitchen erupted into laughter again, just as Yuri burst into the room with the energy of a Broadway show.
“Good morning, beautiful people!” he declared, kissing Yibo’s cheek, wrapping his arms around Zhan, and winking at Yuan.
“Why are you always so energetic?” Yuan muttered.
“Vitamin D,” Yuri chirped. “Also, I slept great. Midnight gaming is great therapy.”
