Wyatt's POV
Life is life a game of Chess. One wrong move and you're on check.
Right now, that's exactly where I am. I fucked up big time and now my girlfriend is in the hands of the enemy. Literally.
At first, when she told me about her description of Luke's and Drake's tats I knew immediately what would've happened if she hadn't escaped there, that day all hell would've broken loose.
So of course, when Zander, Drake's twin brother, pulls up the moment we both land in Italy I knew something was up, and whatever just happened is clear proof that my gut feeling is never wrong.
Now, I'm sitting in front of a very furious boss and her just as furious husband, in the presence of our council.
Now, I know you're wondering what exactly led me to where I am right now.
Well...
That's a funny story.
After that day that Ava told me about how Drake ditched her on their date and how she laid her suspicions on me, the very next day I did something stupid.
I called Drake over to a cafe for a little chat, and when he showed up I gave him one of my signature knuckle sandwiches, breaking his nose in the process but bro wasn't moved whatsoever.
In fact, he just stared at me with a knowing smirk and decided to place a bet with me.
'What's the bet?' you may ask.
Oh that's simple.
If him and his men can successfully kidnap Ava within the time we're going to be away from home -which is two weeks- we'll surrender to them and they'll return Ava back to us unharmed. But if they aren't able to kidnap her within the time span given, they'll surrender and be under our control till we deem worthy.
Now, before you insult me for being so stupid and agreeing -which I did-, I was angry when I walked into that cafe with the intention of the cafe management taking care of a dead body, but when he pitched the bet I was more than happy.
In my mind, it was an easy bet I could win. All I had to do was keep Ava with me at all times for the time span. Secondly, it would be easier to kill him and cover up for it if he worked for boss, so if people ever wondered what happened to him we can just say he went on a mission and didn't make it.
Sounding like a game plan to me, I agreed and sealed the deal with another of my signature sandwiches and made my way to the door, but at least far enough to make out his muffled distorted laughter. Looking over my shoulder, I saw him stagger to get up and saw him wiping away his bloody nose. Smirking in satisfaction, I walked out of the cafe with the image of my princess running through my mind.
But I didn't know that bet would lead to where I am right now.
When Zander's girlfriend asked us to go on a double date, I knew where it was going. I could've denied them the chance to work out their plan but I thought, what was the worst that could happen, after all it is a field trip. We are meant to enjoy our trip. It isn't solely for school work. If I'm being honest, the last time I saw my classmates was last week when we went to some art museums then that party. That's almost a whole week now actually.
When she asked I knew Ava was about to decline the offer but I thought, why not rub my victory in their face. Take her there, have the date, stay by her side through everything, even if it was to use the bathroom I'd follow her and wait outside for her to finish, end the date when she's tired and head back to the hotel. It seemed like a full proof plan to me, but I guess my plan was not as full proof as I thought.
