Connies POV
Red. All I see is red as I punch into his fleshy face but it's not enough, he cant bring her back, he cant bring back lives he took from me. Tainted the mind of the woman I loved, pushing her to die at the hands of someone else. Then killing my mother.... My mother.....Fuck him, he deserves this, he deserves more by my hands, so much more. I was supposed to be strong for her, keep her alive because I was the son that survived a war for her. Survived and promised everything would be alright. Killing him twice will never be enough, ill find him in the next life and need to kill him over and over until im satisfied.
I can feel my knuckles crunch with every punch as Ive reached his skull, hands smoking. Unable to stop even if my hands break from the center of my palms, he will feel all of my rage as pain is an illusion.
Thats what I thought til I heard it, a soft voice caressing my ears , telling me what is real "Connie, hes dead." The voice says but I ignore it because hes not dead enough, not yet "You can stop." It tells me but my hands have a mind of their own, every finger on my left hand already broken. It wasn't until I felt it, the touch on my shoulder. The light in this dark pain, only enough to remind me to breathe in the scent of blood.
Needing to finish him, kill him without regret this time. I pull out my sword and align it with his neck "Hes not dead until his head is disconnected from his neck." I spit out in a voice I dont recognize, gruntled and horse between clenched teeth. My hands shake as the blade hovers over what I assume to be his neck under all the blood, attempting to heal itself.
The hand did not flinch but holds its presence on my shoulder, holding me still, holding me back. Until it finally slides down my arm so gently my clouded anger starts to clear. My hands tremble, not moving, just hovering. Feeling not resolved but humanity seeping into my consciousness. A piece of me knows im the reason hes like this. I was the one who pulled the trigger on the docks, not Armin. I created this monster and in return he took, took like a devil that crawled out of hell.
"It doesn't have to be you to do it. You're mother's revenge has been given." The soft voice has strains, her voice, Elizabeth, my Elizabeth. My mind reels back to the hand now giving my arm a small squeeze in a desperate plead. I don't want her to see me like this, but I warned her to stay away. Inside me, just like Daz is the same monster that seeks revenge. Why must she look at me? But I must do this, I must kill him or she may be next. And I cant...I cant let that happen I need her, I love.....I need her alive. My hands remain shaking, undecided because of her. I just need her to look away.
"Connie, please. Let me finish what I couldn't on those docks. You dont have to do this twice." I feel Armin grasp the sword, and immediately relief fills me like no other. My gaze moves to Armins, his eyes telling me he understands, to let go of the responsibility. I suck in a breath, furrowing my brows, unable to speak words in this mental fog and nod my head.
Elizabeths hands now guide me back as I get up to my feet but my eyes never leaving the sight of the body. Making sure to see Armin finally finish this. Pulling Elizabeth's head into my chest, not wanting her to watch. She responds with her arms around my waist. And I watch Armin sever the head without batting an eye, taking the whole scene to memory to feed the monster within me.
Kissing Elizabeths head when it was over, the area began to clear little by little as most of the greeds headed towards the next line of defense, towards the underground exit.
My body has grown numb to this stuff. I don't know if I should take that as a blessing or a curse but my rage somehow feels avenged. Allowing that fog in my brain to blow away, bringing me back to a level head, just enough to act normal. To not show the monster inside, the monster all of us from the scouts. The monster that keeps us alive.
