"This is the worst so-called mission ever!" Complained Shizi as her and Jingxiao pulled weeds in an elderly woman's garden, having been given very specific orders to not accidentally pull up her Cosmo flowers. They finished and she reverse summoned Jingxiao before going off to find Kakashi and tell him to file her report. She heard he was in the Hokage's office so she went and knocked on the door. Shizi was allowed in and she smiled at the group as Naruto was complaining about getting lame missions.

"Hey, Shizi. You got here for the good part." Comments Kakashi as he placed his hand softly on her head, fingers rubbing the base of her ears and pulling a soft purr from her chest. Shizi caught the eyes of the Hokage and they both smiled before the old man turned his attention back to the ranting Uzumaki.

"Alright, I'll give you a C-rank mission. You are to chauffeur a man to the Land of Waves and guard him until he is finished building the bridge there." The blonde was excited until the bridge builder arrived- almost unconscious he was so drunk- and started insulting the boy. The drunkard's attention then moved around the room to search for a new victim when he was finished with Naruto, stopping on Shizi.

"So not only am I being protected by children, but they added the circus sideshow as well!" The brunette pinned her cat ears down and hissed deep in her throat as a warning. Kakashi narrowed his eyes at the man and resumed the massaging of the angry girl's ear to keep her calm.

"You should leave immediately and take Shizi with you, Kakashi." The said Jonin nodded and the Hokage smiled kindly at the girl before they left to pack for the journey. Shizi picked a medium sized bag and filled it with clothes, extra weapons, medical kit, food, and water. She stepped out and pulled her sandals back on before telling her roommate she'd see him at the gate.

She was the second one at the gate, the first being Sasuke Uchiha. She nodded respectfully at the boy as they waited for the others. Sakura was third and Naruto was close on her heels. They waited a few more hours for their Jonin to arrive and they all left the village with the bridge builder in tow. The three others haven't been outside the gates much and so were awed. Shizi was used to it and her ears flicked around for danger.

"Shizi-chan, something is wrong. Keep your guard up." She silently agreed and kept her sensitive ears pricked for anything that didn't belong. The slight sound of metal on metal was heard seconds before a spiked chain wrapped around Kakashi. Two Hidden Mist Shinobi arrived and yanked roughly on the chain, ripping the silver haired Jonin into bloody shreds.

Shizi's heart slammed against her chest as she watched in horror as her closest friend was ripped apart. Rage sparked in her heart and she attacked the closest Mist Shinobi to her. Sasuke was all over the second Shinobi so she focused on the one below her.

She hissed angrily at the man and drew a Kunai while Sasuke launched a Shuriken, pinning the two to a tree. She kept them there by using her Kunai to stab perfectly through the circle in the middle, burying halfway into the bark. Sasuke kicked the two free of the chain while Shizi knocked them to the dust by kicking out their legs. They jumped back up and ran straight for Naruto- who was standing in shock.

"Naruto! Move!" Screams Shizi as she drew Shuriken to throw at the Shinobi. Milliseconds before she threw them a tall, silver haired Jonin appeared and knocked them both to the ground with graceful ease. He told Naruto that he had been poisoned after he tied up the Hidden Mist Shinobi. Shizi cringed as the blonde Uzumaki used a Kunai to stab his hand and remove the poison. Kakashi wrapped it up and turned his attention to Tazuna the bridge builder and why he was being targeted.

He went on to explain that a man in his homeland named Gato had become a tyrant and was trying to keep Tazuna from building the bridge and connecting the Land of Waves to the mainland. Kakashi scolded the grown man about under-ranking a highly important mission not for Genin to take on.

"We should just let you fend for yourself but we won't. Lucky for you, I decided we need to help remove this Gato man." Kakashi turned from the man and faced his students. His gaze slid over them and stopped on the brunette he housed with over the last two years. She looked on the verge of tears, big, stormy grey eyes rimmed in small, shiny tears. His gaze softened and he smiled lightly at the girl. They started to continue their trek when Kakashi was stopped by Shizi hugging tight to his side.

"Please don't do that again, Kika. I don't want to lose anyone else." She sniffed and buried her face in his flak vest. He lightly hummed sympathetically and rubbed her ear softly.

"How about this, I'll refrain from pretending to be dead and you'll refrain from putting yourself in danger. Deal?" Shizi nodded and slowly let the Jonin go, wiping at the escapee tears from her cheeks.

"We should probably get going, Shizi, the others will need us." She lightly laughed and nodded in agreement. They jumped through the trees to catch up to the group, who have already reached the boat for their passage over the river to the Land of Waves.

They sat quietly on the wooden boat, having been told to stay silent to reduce chances of getting caught. Shizi was seated snugly between Sasuke and Naruto, Sakura and Kakashi towards the back and Tazuna was on the other side.

They stepped off and onto the ground, the boatman speeding away after everyone was off. The fog inexplicably thickened so much Shizi couldn't see her hand in front of her face. Kakashi ordered the students to defend the bridge builder before lifting up his headband to reveal his Sharingan eye.

"Shizi-chan I can help. They can't see you in this fog." Shizi gave in and summoned her reaper. She swung her weaponry in a quick and small circle to hold it in her usual battle defence position. A man materialised between them and Tazuna, a massive sword held in his hand like nothing. Shizi twisted away, swinging her reaper at the same instant to attack the enemy. He used his blade to easily block, eyes widening at the weapon he stopped.

"I know that weaponry. But the last time I saw that thing..." Shizi yanked the blade piece of her reaper away and landed back in her usual crouched position.

"No, Shizi, don't engage. He's the Demon of the Mist, Rogue Ninja of the Blood Mist Village, prominently placed in the bingo book, Zabuza Momochi." Shizi's breath hitched at his name. Did he just say Zabuza, the Zabuza.

"Shizi-chan, did he say Zabuza? But he's...." Shizi stood in stupid silence at this revelation. She knew Zabuza all too well. As it was, Zabuza Momochi was the younger brother of Kandahar-Sensei.
