"So, Shizi, how old are you?" The brunette's stormy grey eyes slid over to her roommate as they stepped into their shared apartment. She slid off her dark brown sandals before answering the man.

"I'm 10 years old." He hummed and motions for her to follow him down the hall. Her cat ears flipped all around for any sign of danger but found none. Kakashi lightly chuckled and opened the door to her new room. It was simple: pale walls, wood floor, a bed along the far wall, a large bay window boasted a view of the village on the left wall, and a closet for her clothes she doesn't presently have besides the ones she's wearing.

"This will be your room, decorate it however you wish. I'll take you to get new clothes when your settled in. The Academy has already been informed that you'll join them tomorrow but for today you just focus on getting used to the village." She nodded and said a meek thanks, to which he hummed again and turned to walk away.

"Also, you should try to make a few friends with the kids at the Academy before you actually join tomorrow. Makes it less awkward." She mutely nodded and walked further into the room to find a suitable place for Jingxiao. She found a place in the space between the bed and the wall, so she left it there and searched the flat for the bathroom for her to shower.

She quickly showered and put her clothes back on before walking out to find the silver headed man. Shizi couldn't find him, so she thus decided to look around the village. She closed and locked the door and hopped up onto the roof of the building, thinking of where she wanted to go. A loud crash caught her keen ears and drew her attention to the south part of the large village.

A wild, blonde haired boy was running from a few other Shinobi because he had painted the faces carved into the towering cliff that overlooked the village. The boy wasn't paying attention to who was in front of him and henceforth slammed into Shizi, knocking both off the roof and to the dusty alleyway behind the apartments.

She sat up and shook her head to clear away the ringing in her ears. The sudden presence of someone below her reminded her that the boy had run into her. Her eyes opened to see big, clear, deep royal blue eyes staring back. Shizi scrambled off the blonde and backed into a corner, ears pinned down and hisses emanating from her throat in warning.

"Whoa, I'm not gonna hurt you! It was an accident, okay! Wait, I haven't seen you around here before, who are you?" He stood and intently studied her, eyes drawn to her ears mostly. "Cool ears! Are they real?"

"Yeah, and I'm new here. I'm Shizi Yemao. Who are you?" He smiled hugely and stuck out his hand.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki! I'm going to be the next Hokage! Believe it!" Hokage? The people on the rock, right? More than likely. Shizi smiled and shook his hand softly.

"You wouldn't mind showing me around would you, Naruto?" The boy smiled larger and nodded. They wandered around the village, Naruto telling her where things are and what they do there.

"And this is the Academy. Here is where they teach you to be a ninja. Are you in the Academy, Shizi?" She nodded and the noises of playing kids caught her attention.

There was a bored-looking boy with his dark hair in a ponytail, a large boy with swirls on his cheeks and a bag of chips, a girl with light blue eyes and platinum blonde hair in a long ponytail, a pinkette with jade eyes, a dark headed boy with slit pupils and red fangs on his cheeks with a white puppy on his head, a boy with round, black sunglasses, a lavender eyed girl with short blue/black hair, and lastly a black headed boy with onyx eyes.

"Who are they?" Naruto glared over at the group, an underlying gleam of loneliness present as well.

"The other Academy kids." Kikashi's words echoed in her ears to make friends.

"I'm going to go introduce myself. Will you wait for me?" He hesitantly nodded and she walked over to the group slowly and cautiously.

"Who are you?" Demanded the boy with the dog, whom yipped in agreement with his master. His question caught the attention of the others, who all crowded around her.

"I'm Shizi Yemao. I'm new here and I wanted to introduce myself before I joined the Academy tomorrow." The girls looked like they were fawning over the black haired boy and arguing at the same time so they didn't pay much attention like everyone else.

"How old are you?" Asked the ponytail boy.

"10. You?" He nodded to say he was the same age. "So what's your name?"

"I'm Shikamaru Nara." She nodded and looked at the boy with the dog to ask him the same question.

"I'm Kiba Inuzuka. This is Akamaru." The dog barked a greeting and Shizi smiled at the little white dog.

"I'm Choji Akimichi." Answered the boy with barbecue chips. He then pointed to the blonde girl. "This is Ino Yamanaka and the other is Sakura Haruno."

"My name is Shino Aburame." The boy with sunglasses said with a slightly creepy voice.

"I'm H-Hinata Hyuga. N-nice to meet you." Shizi smiled kindly at the shy Hyuga girl. The last one was the dark, mysterious black headed boy who was apparently the object of both Ino and Sakura's affection.

"Sasuke Uchiha." Shizi nodded and looked in confusion at the two girls as they insulted each other over the Uchiha who didn't seem to care.

"Where'd you come from, Shizi?" The said girl forced away the sting of tears and smiled at Kiba.

"I'm from the Land of Horses. I was sent here by my old Sensei before he died. His name was Kandahar." All the students stood agape with awe at the name. It even caused Ino and Sakura to stop fighting.

"You mean the Kandahar, Master Reaper?" Asked Shikamaru and Shizi nodded. "Was his reaper lost with him?" She shook her head no and explained that he gave it to her before he died.

"That's so cool!" Exclaimed Choji. Ino finally took a second to look her over and stopped on her cat ears.

"Why do you have cat ears? Are they real?"

"I was born with them and yes they're real." She looked unimpressed and both the girls returned to their insult match.

"Have you seen the village?" Asked Shino creepily and Shizi nodded.

"Yeah, Naruto showed me around." She turned to point him out but he was gone. Her ears drooped at this revelation and she turned back to the group. "He's gone now but he was here earlier."

"It's alright. He doesn't hang out with us much anyway." Explained Shikamaru. Shizi nodded and the said boy asked if she needed help finding her house, to which she said yes. At that moment, their parents came to take them home and Shikamaru had her follow him to see his dad.

"Hello, what's your name?" Asked the tall man when they were close enough.

"I'm Shizi Yemao. I'm new and Shikamaru asked if I needed help finding my house and said you could help." The man smiled and nodded before asking where she lived. "I live with a man named Kakashi Hatake."

"Yo!" Shizi jumped and whirled around, ears down and lightly hissing at the sudden voice of the silver man.

"Holy- can you not scare me like that?!" The silver haired Jonin simply hummed and gave her a closed-eyed smile before greeting Shikamaru's dad.

"Ready, Shizi? Still need to get new clothes for tomorrow." She nodded and waved goodbye to Shikamaru before walking off with her roommate.
