I wake-up to Lucas shaking me.
"Are you sure you don't want to go home?"
"Positive." I say wiping drool off my face. "Do you have gum?" He pulls a piece out and hands it to me. I pop it in my mouth and get out of the car. "Who lives here?"
"That friend I bumped into at the club."
"I hope you guys are just friends."
"She's gay. So yes we're just friends."
"I have a better chance with her than you do! Ha."
"You're straight right?" I do the motion like I'm zipping my lips and walk up to the door and inside. I pause right through the door in awe. Lucas wraps his arms around me and puts his chin on my shoulder.
"Its so pretty. I want fairy lights like this everywhere." We walk around and find everyone out back. There are people dancing and swimming and drinking. "I want to swim." I say looking at Lucas.
"I'll have to run home and get your swimsuit and mine. Don't get in any trouble before I get back. See that blond in the corner there? That's Courtney. Go talk to her." I walk up to the chick that's supposedly gay.
"Hi. I'm Lucas's fiancée."
"Oh my gosh you're Zoey!"
"Yea. He said you're Courtney?"
"Yep. Make yourself at home." She says handing me a glass of punch.
"Thanks." I say spitting my gum in the trash and taking a sip.
"Where's Lucas? I didn't expect you guys to be here already."
"I kind of ripped some extensions out of a chicks hair. Thought it was a good time to leave. He went home to grab our swim stuff."
"Wow. What did she do to deserve that?"
"She was making out with my boyfriend and had her hand down his pants."
"This sounds like it's Lucas's fault."
"It is. I kneed him in the balls though so..."
"Way to go. He sounds like he needed it."
"I love him sometimes. But most of the time he makes me want to stab him."
"I completely understand. He gets a little overbearing sometimes."
"A little? Anyway, in my defense, he punched a guy in the face after I accidentally started dancing with him before the thing with the bimbo happened."
"Yea I saw that one. Why did he feel the need to go messing around knowing you'd see?"
"Because I said I didn't know how I felt about marrying him. He proposed. I said no. But still took the ring because he had already told his brother I said yes."
"Wow. Thats sounds like Lucas. He over reacts a lot. Has he ever hit you?"
"What?" I say nervously laughing.
"He has hasn't he?"
"No. I mean it's not like that. Most of the time I deserve what I get."
"I thought those were bruises on you."
"Please don't say anything to him. Please."
"I understand what being in an abusive relationship is like. I won't say anything. I promise. But I want to give you my number so you can call me when you need someone."
"I don't have a phone. This is only the second time in two years he has let me go out. Otherwise I'm at home hoping I don't piss him off."
"I'll do something about that. No worries. But start laughing, he's walking up here." I start laughing like she just told the funniest joke.
"What are you guys talking about?"
"A certain guy named Eugene."
"You did not tell her my middle name."
"She did. Eugene? Really?"
"It's not like I chose it. So shush Francine and Gladys."
"Gladys?" I say laughing.
"My mom was really into old time waitress names."
"I see that."
"But I mean, Francine?"
"Our grandfather's names was Frank. I got the middle name Francine. My brother got Frances."
"Aww that's cute." She says mockingly.
"Well lets swim." Lucas says pulling me towards the house to change.
"Hey I'll change and swim too." Courtney says following us. We stop at the first bathroom we come to and go in. Courtney doesn't seem to approve but I know Lucas wouldn't have things any other way.
"You two are getting along." He says pulling off his shirt. I turn and have him help me out of my dress.
"She's really nice." I pull on my white top and have him tie it around my sides before I tie it around my neck. Then I slip on my awesome black and white skull bottoms. I turn and he's standing there naked looking at me. "We don't have time. Put on your trunks." He waits a moment like he's contemplating trying to screw me anyway. Then he pulls on his trunks and shoves our clothes in a bag stuffing it under the cabinet.
"Lets go." He pulls my hand and we go back out. I walk as quickly as I can to the pool and get in. I don't want anyone else thinking he beats me.
"So much for keeping my head dry." I say laughing and splashing him when he gets in.
"You should be okay. I mean I don't think the concussion is too bad."
"What? You didn't tell me I got a concussion."
"It was a very mild one. You didn't even know."
"Yea. 'Cause I know nothing about concussions. Except that I should try not to get one."
"Lets just swim."
"Fine." We swim around and play games with other couples and have fun. After a while we get out and decide to dance. After some time, and tons of swimming and dancing, we decide to go home. Grabbing our things before saying bye to Courtney and driving home.
"Can we stay in the big house?" I ask when we pull in the driveway.
"If you want."
"I do want." He unlocks the door and pulls me in. No sooner than we get inside he pushes me against the wall by the door and starts kissing me. "Not here." I say breaking apart. He leads me upstairs and to his bedroom. He pulls a few strings and suddenly I'm naked. He drops his shorts too and pushes me on the bed. I crawl back laying my head on the pillows.  He situates himself above me and I wrap my legs around him. He hesitates above me and I attempt to make him keep going. Of course he moves so I can't. "What? Stop teasing me. Just do it." And with that he enters me so hard I nearly scream. That night looked very much like the previous.
