*Harry's POV*
"What the hell do you think you're doing here!" Carol screams at me. Her face is an alarming shade of red, veins sticking out of her neck. I've never seen her so pissed. "I swear to God, Harry if you don't leave in negative five seconds, I will skin your sorry ass right he-"
In the middle of Carol's raging, a guy steps out of the house. I've never seen him before in my life, though. I watch as he warily scrutinizes me with his eyes. He apparently has no clue who I am either, but then recognition flashes blazingly on his face and his expression turns from confusion to one of absolute animosity. In three long strides, he's a short distance away from me. Not a second passes between us before his fist connects with my nose and then my cheek and then my stomach.
I double over in pain, gripping my stomach which feels like my insides are in danger of falling out and spilling all over the pavement. My nose immediately begins to bleed, a rushing river of red and when I raise my fingers to my lips, I discover the bottom one is split.
Despite all of this, I can't seem to be angry at him. If he punched me, it was for good reason.
Faintly, I hear Carol yell out a name in panic. The pain in my stomach slowly ebbs and I stand up straight, ready to take on any more punches this guy has to throw at me. I'm thrown for a loop when my eyes connect with hers.
"Allison?" My voice cracks in disbelief, but I can't bring myself to be embarrassed about it. I pale. So much so that it takes every bit of me not to faint right here in the driveway.
"What are you..." Her voice fails her and the sentence hangs in the air pitifully. But we all know what she was about to say. She didn't know I was going to be here and it's obvious I didn't know she'd be here.
I try to tell her as much, stumbling over my words and sounding like an utter fool. Okay, Harry. Calm down. I take a deep breath, mustering up enough courage to look Allison straight in the eye.
"I'm sorry," I begin again. "I didn't know that you were here if I had known I never would have come I'm so sorry I'll leave now if you want me to." Once I start, my brain disconnects from my mouth and I'm going on about God knows what. I'll admit. I can't fully focus with her staring at me like that.
Carol begins yelling at me again, but I can't really make out what she's saying because all of my attention is on Allison and Allison only. I try to tear my gaze away from her, but I can't. She's caught me completely off guard and all of the emotions that I had buried deep inside, locked and bolted in a trunk and thrown away in a river to never be found again has now miraculously resurfaced.
The rest is a bit of a blur, all of us going into the house, Carol yelling some more, Allison taking charge, and then I'm following her upstairs with her carrying one of my bags. Eventually, the situation registers and I realize I'm going to be in a room with just her for the first time in months.
My heart rate quickens to an alarmingly rapid rate, my palms begin to sweat and my stomach doesn't just feel like it has butterflies, it feels like a swarm of freaking bees are buzzing around in there, wreaking all sorts of havoc.
Calm down, Harry. It's just Allison. Stop being such a wus.
I follow her up the stairs and down an insanely long, but incredibly alluring hallway. She doesn't stop until she gets to a door that's painted a crisp white and is the second to last one. She steps inside, immediately hauling the bag that was just in her hands, onto the bed. She opens it and begins obsessively putting away everything in there.
