Song Obsession of the Day: Fall Out Boy- Uma Thurman
*Allison's POV*
"W-what?" I stammer, still shocked at Daniel's words. Did he just ask me who Harry is?
"Who is Harry?" He stares at me with such an intense look that I am forced to look away from his eyes.
"He...he's no one." I speak softly. "No one important."
"No, Allison. I don't want some bull answer," he says gruffly. "Give me a real one. I know he must mean something to you."
"Why would you think that? I don't even mention him when I'm around you." I point out. I find the courage to look back into his eyes.
"Actually, that's not true." I stare at him in confusion. "Every time you're asleep, you mumble his name. At least, every time I've been around while you're sleeping. You don't even realize that you do it." He pauses, allowing me to process what he just said.
"And don't think I've forgotten that time on our first date where you had a complete panic attack over thinking that you saw him. It scared the crap out of me, and I stayed awake many nights trying to figure out what the hell happened. I could've just asked you, but I didn't. I never pressured you into giving me an answer or explaining what happened...until now."
All I can do is stare, nearly open-mouthed at Daniel.
Talking in my sleep. About Harry. Dreaming about him when I didn't even know I was doing it. I thought I was rid of him.
"Daniel, I-"
"Never mind," he cuts me off. "Forget it." He looks away and stuffs earphones into his ears. A few seconds later, I can hear music blasting loud enough to burst a person's eardrums.
I thought I'd moved on. I thought I was over it.
I was a fool.
..............
WE make it to the condo without a sound. Literally, not a word came from anyone. Even Carol and Christian didn't bother to try to make light conversation, which is rare. They've obviously noticed the tension between Daniel and I.
Daniel gets out, and with the help of Christian, they get all of our bags inside. When he picks mine up and starts heading up the stairs, I reach out to stop him.
"Daniel, you don't-" He doesn't look at me as he replies with,
"It's fine." I sigh and retract my outstretched hand, letting him go. For a few moments, I just stand at the foot of the steps and try to sort things out in my head, but nothing makes sense. Nothing seems right.
"Allison?" Carol places a gentle hand on my arm. "You want to talk about it?" she asks softly. I turn to face her and nod. "C'mon," she says. "I know exactly what we need."
...................
"HI," Carol smiles, positioning her sunglasses to the top of her head. "I have an appointment for Carol Whittman?" The desk lady types a few things into her computer before turning back to her with a smile.
"Yes. Right this way." She leads us through a series of double doors.
The spa that we are at is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is decorated with beautifully exotic and colorful flowers. I breathe in deeply, eyes fluttering closed at the delicious smell of vanilla, coconut, and a hint of lavender. I already feel a bit more relaxed.
We're led out onto a balcony that's overlooking the beach. I can smell the salty sea air, feel the gentle cool breeze of the wind, hear the swaying of the trees and somewhere in the distance, some seagulls.
