"Stop." I said quietly almost as a whisper."Alice. If you love me back than why can't we be together?" He sounded confused. "I'm a human it won't work out. You are immortal I'm mortal." My grandpa walked in."You will have twenty-four hours. This isn't time for games." He said with his crackling, old voice. Before I could ask questions he left Ray and I alone once more."What happens in twenty-four hours?""Nothing.""Tell me!" I demanded, how come he can hide secrets but I can't."You need to answer my questions first. Why can't we be together?""We just can't it's not right!""Fine I see how it is." He let out a long sigh and turned his back to me. "Go hang out with your werewolf friend, maybe you two can go off together somewhere." He left not even letting me say anything. Nick soon walked in saving me from this black hole of shattered dreams. He wore a depressed almost crying look on his face. "Alice you can't do this for much longer soon they will get what they want.""What do they want?""I can't tell you.""Why not!" I raised my voice ever so slightly. His hand moved to my shoulder and slowly slide down to my elbow."Because... I don't want to scare you.""Nothing can scare me.""Alice shut up. You and I both know that is a lie." He grabbed my hard tightly and our eyes locked on each other's. "Right now you are terrified, shaking and you don't even notice it because you are blinded by fear; enough that you don't even realize how scared you actually are.""Ray tell me what is going on now." His icy blue eyes felt like flames. The tension between us grew more, since when did we grow so far apart?"My little Alice, you are so naïve sometimes. Anyone would think you are faking it and you are but yet you're not. I can sense it, you know what is going on but you won't admit it to yourself.""Stop talking in riddles!" I demanded. He lifted my arm like a ballerina and spun me around so his arms were around me and my back was on his chest. "Alice you don't have to be a doll in front of me. We are similar but my past is hidden unlike yours. My parents are both dead but I don't have a family except this one." "You know nothing.""I'm not that dumb. When we first met it was so easy to get along because without knowing it you had a lot in common with me. Also there is something I have to tell you." He set me free from his grasp."Just tell me I hate being in the dark like this!" He reached over trying to put his hand over mine. Instead I slapped his hand away."Alice...""What is it?!" His eyes froze on me for only a moment before someone entered the room, stopping our conversation. This man was in all black, he looked around thirty he grabbed Nick and took him away. The way he threw Nick over his shoulder made it seem like he was lifting a feather. All I could see was him take one step towards me he lifted his hand and everything was black. Footsteps echoed in my head I heard them but I couldn't manage to open up my eyes. I was an unconscious doll being controlled by my puppeteer. When I managed to open my eyes all I could see was one big blur as it slowly cleared I took in my surroundings. This room has no windows, am I in a basement? I was in a chair with chain attached to my hands and feet, the medal was very sturdy like it was unbreakable. The walls are so lonely, I couldn't stand, nor can I feel anything. What is going on? A creek of a door coming from behind me made me attempt to stand but I couldn't the chains were too tight. Standing probably wasn't the brightest idea, the chains were unforgiving they pierced though my wrist like butter. A conversation was going on behind me it was two males, they had a lifeless tone to their voice yet it was so nostalgic. Another person's footsteps echoed behind me three people now. I listened attentively trying to hear their conversation but I couldn't manage hearing anything over my pounding pulse in my wrist. Shutting my eyes I let out a small, meaningful prayer. Hey it's been awhile God. If you still remember me just listen, I'm not asking for forgiveness we both knew that; but I still have some stuff I need to do before I die. This chess game isn't over yet I still have some pieces left and we both know I won't give up without a fight. Just give me a second chance I don't want to die here.
