Death the Kid x Reader (Soul Eater)

Your hands were sweating as you trudged up the steps to the front door of Death Manor.  You had never confessed your love to anyone before, and you were beyond nervous.

You hesitantly raised a hand to knock on the door, your stomach twisted up in a huge knot.

"I can't do this," you whispered, shaking.

You sighed and made an attempt to lean against the front door. However, you nearly stumbled over when the door unexpectedly swung open.

"Oops! Sorry!" you heard someone say.

You looked up to see Patty waving at you, with Liz behind her.

"Hi, (y/n)! What are you doing here?" Liz asked, brushing a lock of hair away from her face.

"H-hey, L-Liz! Hey, Patty!" you stammered nervously. "I j-just wanted to talk to Kid. Is... is he home?"

"He was in the study last time I saw him," Liz said. "You know where that is, right? I know you've hung out here with Kid before."

"Hey, (y/n), are you okay?" Patty asked, poking your forehead. "You're all stammery and sweaty and nervousy."

You nodded, plastering on a smile.

"Everything's fine!" you lied. 

The Thompson sisters stared at you for a moment before turning to each other and shrugging.

"Well, we'll catch you later," Liz said. "Patty and I are heading out shopping. See you!"

Patty and Liz waved to you before running off, chatting and laughing. You waved halfheartedly back before entering the manor.

Eventually, you reached the study. Sure enough, Death the Kid was sitting reading a book at the table. Your heart fluttered when you saw him, and a warm, fuzzy feeling spread throughout your body.

"H-hey, Kid!" you greeted, a wide grin on your face.

"Huh?" he asked, looking up from his book. He glanced at you and put down his book. "Oh, hello, (y/n). I assume that the girls let you in. What's up?"

You blushed and looked down at the ground.

"Um... I-I actually have something to t-tell you..."

"What is it?" Kid asked, staring you straight in the eye.

"So... um... for a while... I-"

Just then, you heard a beeping sound going off from inside of a nearby room.

"Oh, those would be my muffins I was baking," Kid said, standing up from his seat. "It appears that they're done. You can tell me what you needed to tell me while I go get them out of the oven."

"N-no, I'll tell you when you get back," you said, smiling nervously.

Kid shrugged.

"Okay. I'll be back in a second."

He exited the room, leaving you standing there in silence.

One minute passed.

I wonder how Kid's doing, you wondered.

Five minutes passed.

I feel like he should be back by now... is he alright?

Ten minutes.

"Kid?" you called, peeking your head out of the door frame. No one answered.

You decided to go look for him. You wandered around the house until you eventually found the kitchen. Oddly, however, although you saw his muffins cooling on the stove, Kid was nowhere to be seen.
