Gray x Reader (Fairy Tail)

You panted, resting your hands on your knees.

"L... Lucy...?" you called, knocking on the celestial mage's apartment door. "I... I need to... ask you for advice."

Lucy opened up the door to her apartment, looking surprised.

"(y/n)?" she asked.

You nodded, finally seeming to catch your breath.

"Hey, Lucy," you said, laughing nervously.

"Um... are you alright? You don't stop by my apartment often."

You shook your head.

"Um... I need to talk to you about something."

"Uh, okay! Come on in!" Lucy said, beckoning for you to follow her in. You plopped down on the couch and put your head in your hands.

"So, what's wrong?" Lucy asked, taking a seat next to you. "Judging by the fact that you were panting, I think you ran all the way here."

You looked up at her, your heart nervously pounding in your chest.

"I... erm..."

"(y/n)?"

"I... I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH GRAY!!" you said, nearly shouting.

Lucy blinked.

"Huh?!" she demanded.

You exhaled loudly and slumped against the armrest of the couch.

"Whew. It feels so much better now that I've said that out loud."

"Wait... so you like... Gray?" Lucy asked incredulously. 

You nodded.

Lucy's face lit up.

"That's great! I'm so happy for you! You should confess!"

This time, you shook your head.

"I... I can't," you said, looking down at your hands.

"What do you mean?"

You stared at her for a moment before her eyes flashed with realization.

"Oh... I get it..." she said, sighing.

The answer was obvious:

Juvia.

You and Juvia had been best friends for as long as you could remember. People called you the Water Duo, since you both were water mages. You were inseparable, and did everything together - job requests, shopping, hiking - you name it. 

"I can't... I can't betray her!" you cried out, throwing your hands up. "She's my best friend! What do I do?"

Lucy winced sympathetically.

"I don't know," she answered honestly. "I guess you have to tell her. It's only fair that she knows."

You ran a hand through your hair and nodded.

"I guess," you mumbled. "But how?"

"Well..."" Lucy replied, cocking her head thoughtfully to the side, "you two were going on a job today, right? Why don't you tell her then?"

You started to nod, but just then, something crashed through Lucy's window.

You shrieked and pushed yourself against the back of the couch. Lucy glared at the offender.

"NATSU!!" she screamed. "THERE'S A DOOR!"

"Yo, Luce!" he just responded cheerfully. "Yo, (y/n)!"
