Kanato x Reader (Diabolik Lovers)

You sat on the edge of your bed, staring out the window at the courtyard of the Sakamaki home. You were tired, as it was midnight, but you were having trouble falling asleep.

Suddenly, you noticed a figure standing in the courtyard. But... that was all they were doing. Just standing there. A closer glance showed that they seemed to be staring at you.

This is a little weird, you thought, nervously backing away from the window. It's probably just one of the brothers, but still...

You glanced out the window again, but the figure was gone. Relieved, you threw yourself onto your back and sighed, staring up at the ceiling.

"(y/n), come here," you heard a voice say.

You raised an eyebrow in confusion, sat back up, and glanced toward the sound. Kanato was standing in your doorway, holding Teddy. The fact that he had suddenly appeared didn't startle you, however - you were used to it by now.

"HECK no," you snapped. "Although she's nice and all, I'm not like Yui. I'm not going to just do whatever you say and refuse to fight back."

"Then why haven't you escaped yet?" Kanato retorted.

"Because I don't have anywhere else to go," you shrugged. You quickly turned your head to the side, refusing to let him see you blink back tears. It bothered you more than you let on. After being sent here, your parents were killed. You suspected it had something to do with the Sakamakis, but you didn't say anything - you were always acting a little emotionless.

Am I going to be here for the rest of my life?  you wondered to yourself. That would really suck.

"(y/n), I would like you to come here," Kanato repeated, though he said it more firmly this time.

"I said no. Now leave me alone or else," you grumbled.

For a few seconds, Kanato's face was distorted with rage. Then, he went back to his usual blank expression as he said, "I guess that I'll just take you myself."

In a flash, he had grabbed your wrist and was tugging you down the hall. You yanked your wrist back as hard as you could, but Kanato had an iron grip. Desperately, you swung your leg forward in an attempt to kick him. However, he dodged it and simply tightened his grip on your arm.

"I just want to talk to you," Kanato said in an eerily calm voice.

"Fine!" you sighed. "But try anything and I will kill you."

"Good luck," Kanato said expressionlessly. He continued to pull you forward. He loosened his grip on your arm, although he didn't let go of you entirely.

Eventually, he led you out to the middle of the courtyard. There, he let go of your wrist and sat down on the ground. Awkwardly, you sat down next to him.

"I was watching you from down here," Kanato said, pointing at your bedroom window. "Did you see me?"

"Um... yes..." you said, giving him a weird look.

"You looked very cute," Kanato said, smiling down at his teddy bear. "Isn't that right, Teddy?"

"Wh-what?" you asked, your face flaming. You glanced down at your lap as you said, "Um... th-thanks..."

"Don't get conceited," said Kanato. "It wasn't a compliment, it was only an observation."

Immediately, your blush disappeared. You rolled your eyes and lay down on your back, putting your hands behind your head.

"Whatever," you sighed. You turned your head to the side as you continued, "So... what did you want to talk to me about?"

"I just wanted to get to know you," Kanato simply responded.
