Aru Akise x Reader (Mirai Nikki/The Future Diary)

"M-make one more step forward and I'll kill you!" you threatened, holding up a lead pipe threateningly.

You had been backed into the corner of your own house by whom you suspected was another diary user; you couldn't see who they were in the dim light. Although you were trying to act brave now, you were honestly terrified and on the edge of bursting into tears.

"Relax," a male voice said calmly. You could faintly make out the figure hold up their hands. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm your friend."

"And why should I believe you?" you retorted, clenching your fists.

The person stepped out of the shadows, and you almost froze. You had never seen this person before - a boy who couldn't be older than 14 with light red eyes and white hair.

He's not that bad looking, you admitted to yourself. Then, after realizing what you had just thought, you nearly slapped yourself. Idiot! He's going to kill you!

"Who are you?" you asked cautiously, still holding up the pipe.

"My name is Aru - Aru Akise," he introduced, sticking out his hand. 

You stared at it for a moment - no way am I shaking this guy's hand! - before slowly replying, "I'm (y)-"

"Your name is (y/n)," Aru said evenly, nodding.

"How - how did you know that?!" you asked in alarm, taking a step back.

"I did my research on you, (y/n). I've been wanting an ally in this 'game' for a while now, and you're the perfect candidate."

"Oh yeah?" you asked sarcastically.

Aru either didn't notice or decided to ignore your tone as he continued, "You're at the top of your class, captain of your school's track team, and you're very beautiful."

You couldn't help but blush at the last one, although you never let your guard down.

"I"m not even going to ask how you got that information on me, or why you think I'm 'beautiful.' Either give me one good reason why I should form an alliance with you or I'll kill you."

"You're very straightforward and fearless as well. That's always a good asset on a team," Aru laughed.

In response, you held up the pipe threateningly.

"Whoa, whoa," Aru said nervously, backing up. "Anyway, I do have a reason why you should join me."

"And what's that?"

"I'll protect you," he said simply. 

You were slightly surprised at his response. Slowly, you lowered your weapon.

"What?"

"I'll protect you," he repeated. "I'll make sure that no one kills you. If you're injured, I'll take care of you. I will help you win."

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" you asked, secretly impressed by his answer.

He replied by holding up his phone. The entry read:

(y/n) tries to refuse the alliance I offer. In reality, they're actually relieved that someone wants to be their partner.

You gave him a scowl and sighed.

"Fine. We can band together or whatever," you said. 

Aru flashed you a smile.

"Good! Now that that's taken care of, we should find a place to stay. When I was making my way over here, I had to sneak around Ninth."
