Nagisa x Reader (Free!)

   "(y/n)-chaaaaan!!" you heard someone call.
You didn't even need to turn around to know that it was your best friend, Nagisa Hazuki.
"Hey, Nagisa!" you greeted, smiling. He tackled you, laughing, causing you to blush furiously.
"Um... c-could you get off, N-Nagisa?" you stammered, turning bright red.
Nagisa pushed himself off of you, pouting.
"Aww, why?" he demanded.
"I... don't like people touching me," you lied.
The truth was, you had a secret. You had huge crush on Nagisa. You had liked him for as long as you could remember. However, you were sure that the feeling wasn't mutual.
"So," Nagisa said, immediately moving onto the next subject, "Do you have anything after school?"
"No-" you started, but you were cut off when Nagisa gave you a huge squeeze.
"YAY!" he cheered. "Then (y/n)-chan can come to my swim practice!"
"N-Nagisa, remember the touching thing?" you laughed nervously.
"Oh, yeah. Sorry!" he giggled. He released you and started bouncing up and down on his toes. "Well, meet me at the pool at 3:30! You can watch me and Haru-chan and Mako-chan and Rei-chan practice!"
"Um... at the pool?" you asked nervously.
"Well, yeah! How else are we going to swim?"
You looked down at your feet.
"Okay," you answered simply.
"YAY!! See you after school, (y/n)-chan!" Nagisa yelled. He waved to you before running off to his class.
You put your head in your hands.
Your crush on Nagisa wasn't your only big secret. The other thing you kept hidden was that you were afraid of water.
No, "afraid" is not the word, you thought, shuddering, "terrified" is more like it.
It had all started that summer...
-Flashback-
"Whoa, look at the ocean, Nagisa!" you cried out in awe. You grabbed his arm and pointed at the tides rolling in.
"Isn't it so pretty, (y/n)-chan?" Nagisa agreed.
He turned to you with a huge grin.
"First one to the water wins!!" he yelled. He took off running toward the shoreline.
"Hey, Nagisa! Wait for me!" you yelled. You sprinted as fast as your legs could carry you, trying your best to avoid passing beach-goers and the sharply tipped rocks that littered the beach.
Finally, you reached the shoreline, panting. Nagisa danced around you victoriously.
"I win! I win!" he cheered, pumping his fist.
"Dang it!" you groaned, stomping your foot.
"It's fine, (y/n)-chan!" Nagisa said, wrapping you in a hug. "I'll give you another chance to win!! Whoever can swim out the farthest wins this time!"
"You're on!" you giggled.
"But," Nagisa added in a spooky tone, "Watch out for sharks! They'll gobble you up if they see you!"
You rolled your eyes.
"Like that's going to scare me, Nagisa!" you cried as you ran into the water.
You swam as fast as you could, determined to beat the hyper blonde. Soon enough, you had swam so far out that you couldn't see him.
"I win!!" you cheered.
Just then, you noticed something out of the corner of your eye. A closer look showed something that looked like a grey triangle poking out of the water.
"Shark!!" you screamed in terror.
With a burst of adrenaline, you swam back to shore faster than you ever had before. When you finally reached the beach, you collapsed on the shore, holding back a sob. When Nagisa finally reappeared minutes later, you kept the story to yourself, not wanting to look like a wimp in front of him.
-End of flashback-
That one experience from the previous summer had honestly traumatized you. You couldn't go anywhere near water without almost having a panic attack.
You sighed and started walking to your classroom.
Oh, well, you thought, if it's for Nagisa-kun... then I can endure it.
-Timeskip to after school-
"(y/n)-chan! (y/n)-chan! You made it!!" Nagisa shouted as you took a seat on a chair by the pool. He ran forward to hug you, then pulled back at the last second, adding, "Oh, yeah, the touching thing."
Even though your heart was pounding as you stared at the pool, you answered, "Of... of course I'd be here!"
"I want to introduce you to my friends!" Nagisa said, grabbing your wrist.
You face flamed up. You were about to remind him about how you didn't like to be touched - didn't he just correct himself a few seconds ago on it?! - when you decided to let it go for once.
"Guys! Guys!" he shouted to three other males warming up in the pool, "This is (y/n)-chan! (y/n)-chan, this is Haru-chan, Makoto-chan, and Rei-chan."
He pointed to a quiet-looking guy with black hair and blue eyes, a friendly-seeming guy with light brown hair and green eyes, and and intellectual-looking guy with blue hair and purple eyes.
"H-hi," you squeaked.
"Don't be so nervous. We don't bite," Makoto laughed.
You just nodded.
It's not you guys I'm scared of, you wanted to say, it's the pool.
Just then, two females walked into the pool. To your surprise, it was your friend Gou - or Kou as she liked to be called - and your teacher, Ama-chan.
"Hi, (y/n)-chan!" Gou - er, Kou - greeted, waving as she approached you. "What are you doing here?"
"H-hey, Kou! I'm... I'm here to watch Nagisa's practice," you responded, still sounding a little nervous.
"Really?" Kou asked in surprise. She lowered her voice as she added, "But I thought you were afraid of water."
"(y/n)-chan's afraid of water?" someone practically yelled.
You flinched and turned to the perpetrator.
"Yes, Nagisa," you said, embarrassed, "I am afraid of water. You didn't need to shout it."
"Sorry!" he laughed, putting his hands over his mouth. His face lit up as he said, "I'll teach you how to swim!!"
"Um... no thanks..." you mumbled as he yanked you toward the locker room. "How did you know that I couldn't swim, anyway?"
"Well, if you're afraid of water, then you probably don't know how to swim," he answered, shrugging. He then proceeded to ask, "Do you have a swimsuit here?"
"I think I do, even though I skip out on swimming in PE."
"Good!" Nagisa grinned, racing into the locker room.
"HEY!!" you screamed, chasing him. A moment later, you came out, angrily yanking Nagisa with you. "You can't watch me get changed, idiot!"
"Sorry," Nagisa shrugged. Then, as if it didn't even happen, he yelled, "See you at the pool in a minute, (y/n)-chan!"
"Okay," you sighed in defeat as you went into the locker room.
You arrived at the pool a moment later in your swimsuit. You stared down at the water fearfully.
"Come on!" Nagisa cried. He grabbed your wrist as he jumped into the pool, forcing you to come along with him.
"WAAAIIIT!! NAGISAAAAAAA!!" you screamed in terror as you landed with a splash.
When you came up, you splashed around frantically.
"Oh, gosh! I'm drowning!" you gasped as you flailed around.
Nagisa wrapped his hands around your waist, causing you to freeze, before steadying you.
"But, we're in the shallow end, (y/n)-chan," he reminded you.
"Oh," you responded, embarrassed, as you stood in the pool.
"See, this isn't so bad, right?" Nagisa asked encouragingly.
You just nodded as you stared down in shock at the water, feeling terrified beyond belief.
"Nagisa-kun, (y/n)-san is obviously feeling uncomfortable," Rei said, adjusting his goggles. "You should let them get out if they want to."
"I agree, Nagisa," Makoto said, wading up to the two of you. "Don't push (y/n) into doing something they don't want to do."
Haru just simply said, "Don't get out. The water likes you."
"Okay..." you said slowly. You shook off his weird answer before sighing.
"I appreciate it, but I'll be fine," you muttered.
"In order for me to teach you how to swim, I'll have to touch you. Are you okay with that, (y/n)-chan?" Nagisa asked.
You nodded slowly as he gently took your wrists.
"I'm going to pull you around, and I want you to kick your feet. Okay?" Nagisa inquired.
"Mm-hmm," you responded, taking a deep breath.
He started gently pulling you, and you flipped onto your stomach.
The real terror you had been holding back broke free just then. Maybe it was because of the thrill of Nagisa touching you, or maybe the sudden flip, or the fact that you were in the water. But you couldn't handle it.
"I can't do this," you gasped, wrenching free. You waded as fast as you could over to the ladder before climbing out and running to the locker room.
"Wait! (y/n)-chan!" Nagisa yelled, chasing after you.
You took a seat on the bench and put your face in your hands, blinking back tears. A moment later, you heard the bench creak, indicating that someone had taken a seat next to you.
You looked next to you and was startled to see Nagisa sitting there, blinking worriedly at you with his magenta eyes.
"You're not supposed to be in here," you mumbled. "For all you know, I'm getting changed."
"(y/n)-chan, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice thick was concern. "Why are you afraid of water?"
You took a deep breath before spilling your story. You told him all about when you two were at the beach, and how you saw a shark while the two of you were racing. You explained how you had raced back to shore on the verge of tears before he had appeared.
When you finished your story, Nagisa had a strange expression on his face.
"Nagisa?" you asked, confused.
"Um, (y/n)-chan? Please don't be mad... but, um, the shark was me. I used one of those pointy rocks I found on the beach to pretend to be a shark to scare you."
You blinked a few times, going over what you had heard in your brain.
What...?!
"THE SHARK WAS YOU?!" you screamed, jumping up.
"Please don't be mad! I'm sorry!" Nagisa cried, looking guilty.
"DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT AFFECTED ME?!" you shouted angrily. "WHY DID YOU EVEN DO THAT?!"
"Because Rei-chan told me that you tease somebody if you like them!" Nagisa exclaimed. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you would feel that bad after it!"
You froze in place.
"Wait..." you said slowly, "Did you just... confess to me?"
"Um..." Nagisa turned bright red. "...Yes..."
"You're so cute when you blush," you laughed. "I've never seen you this flustered before. Well, don't be. I like you too, Nagisa."
Nagisa looked up in shock.
"Really?" he asked in surprise.
You nodded, smiling. A light shade of scarlet dusted your cheeks.
Nagisa's eyes sparkled as he asked, "So, you'll go out with me?"
You smiled.
"Yes I will," you grinned.
"YAY!! I'M GOING TO BE AN AWESOME BOYFRIEND, (Y/N)-CHAN!!" he yelled, wrapping you in a huge hug.
"Nagisa! You're being too loud!" you whispered in embarrassment. You could hear his voice echoing around the locker room.
When Nagisa let go of you, he said, "So, do you want to try the swimming lesson again?"
You smiled as you said, "Sure."
With that, you grabbed his hand and walked out of the locker room.
