You glanced outside the window of your house. It was snowing outside - something that was unusual for your village. You had lit your fireplace, but you were still freezing.

Shivering, you sat on your couch and opened up a book to distract yourself from the cold. However, it wasn't enough. Sighing in defeat, you set your book back down and stared out the window.

Just then, you noticed something odd.

Is that... a person? you wondered, squinting.

There seemed to be a figure stumbling outside of your window, shivering through the cold snow. Suddenly, the figure collapsed, making you gasp.

Someone's stuck out there! I've gotta help them! you thought desperately.

You tore outside, ignoring the freezing snow, and sprinted over to the person. You didn't even glance at their face as you picked them up and started dragging them to your house.

"Huh?" you heard the person mumble in confusion as you set them down inside your house on your couch.

Quickly, you slammed your front door shut before rushing over to the person.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" you asked in shock.

"Yeah," the person said tiredly, "Thank you for helping me."

"I'm (y/n)," you said. "Who are you?"

"My name's Kabuto," the person said.

"Nice to meet you, Kabuto," you said. "We can talk in a little bit - first, I'm going to make you some tea and get you a blanket."

Rushing to your kitchen, you put on a kettle of hot water. After that, you ran into your room, where you grabbed a spare blanket from your bed.

"Here," you said hurriedly, giving the blanket to Kabuto.

"Thank you," he shivered, immediately wrapping himself in it.

You sat down beside him.

"What happened?" you asked curiously. "Why were you out there?"

"I was... doing a favor for someone," he said cautiously, "And I got caught out in the blizzard. If it wasn't for you, I most likely would have froze to death. Thanks again."

"No problem," you answered. Just then, you heard a high-pitched whistle coming from the kitchen. "That's the tea. One minute."

You went to the kitchen and took the kettle off of the heat. After that, you poured the steaming water into two cups over some tea leaves. You took one in each hand and carried them back to where Kabuto was sitting.

"Here you go," you said, handing one to him.

"Thank you," he said as he took it and started to sip.

You began to study his features. He had silver hair pulled back into a ponytail, dark eyes, and big round glasses. Something about his gaze reminded you of a snake, though you couldn't figure out why.

After he finished his tea, he stood up and gave you a quick bow.

"Thank you so much for your hospitality, (y/n). Is there anything I can do to pay you back?"

"No, it's fine," you smiled. "You should probably stay with me for a little bit, though. I want to make sure that you're completely recovered."

"If you insist," Kabuta responded. Then, taking both of your empty mugs, he said, "Here. At least let me help you around the house."

"Thank you," you responded as the two of you went to the sink.

Once you got there, Kabuto blinked a few times in shock.
