It was dark when I parked back at the loft. Alex was still and silent. I didn't move for a while. We stayed in the car for seconds. I just looked at Alex.

"Hey." I said. He turned to me and smiled. "Are you okay, Alex? You

don't have to sweat it."

"No, I'm good." He chuckled. "I get it. I came back here because I wanted to make up the things that went wrong with us. I was hoping I could still get back together with you, but I was too late."

"Alex. I'm sorry."

"No, it was my fault." He just smiled. "But I get it. You're happy now, so I'm happy for you."

"Hey, it's going to be okay." I smiled with him. "You're gonna find some girl. You're gonna fall in love, and you're gonna make some sweet sweet love to her. It'll be okay."

"You make it sound so easy." He laughed. "But it does sound nice."

"Friends?" I offered him a handshake.

"Friends." He shook my hand.

"Come on." I said as I opened the door. "Let's get out of this dump."

Alex and I went up to the second floor of the loft to our room. Before we got in, we heard this weird yelling. It sounded like Laura and Harvey were arguing. Alex and I went in, and they were standing and arguing by the living room.

"How could this be my fault?" she yelled. "You're the one who's always telling me to forget about the condom!"

"Hello?" I walked into their argument. "This is the first time I saw you two arguing. What's going on?"

"Liyah." Harvey said. "I'm sorry, I think we did something wrong."

"What?" I looked at Laura's hand, and she was holding a pregnancy test stick, and I knew what it meant. "Jesus Christ, you got her pregnant?"

"Whoa." Alex reacted. "Laura's pregnant?"

"We were a little careless." Harvey said as he held his head in panic. Laura also looked devastated and worried like hell. "I'm sorry, Laura."

"But this morning, you were fine!" I said.

"I wasn't getting my period." She replied. "And I didn't feel the symptoms until this afternoon. I was groggy, and my stomach felt so sick."

"Yeah, you keep taking breaks during our shift." I added. "I thought you were having problems with your stomach. I didn't think it'd be pregnancy. You seemed fine."

"Yeah, I took the test after my shift." She added. "Then, it's positive."

"Is it overreacting if I say that I'm freaking out right now?" Harvey panicked.

"No, that's okay." I replied. Even I was shocked. It was a total bummer. I never actually thought Laura would get pregnant. I always thought she'd get a terminal disease before she gets pregnant. Anyway, it wasn't a good day for her. I thought Harvey was probably gonna sleep on the couch that night. Still, we wouldn't know what to do with that.
