Later that day, I didn't have a shift at the restaurant. Alex and I decided to take a coffee at a nearby Starbucks branch. We just wanted to kill some time, so we went. We just ordered some lattes and sat down... chill.
"How come you don't have a shift tonight?" he started.
"It's my day off." I replied. "Apparently, Laura's really been working on a full-time basis. It's been such a change."
"Yeah." He chuckled. "Things have changed so much since last year."
"So, how do you plan on going about your date with Janine?" I teased as I gave him a smirk.
"I really wish you hadn't done that." He said. "Now I'm feeling pressured."
"Why?" I laughed. "She likes you! You don't have to do anything! The way I see it, just be yourself, and she'll probably enjoy the time she spends with you."
"It's just that when I know a girl likes me, I get worried if I might disappoint her." He said.
"You are so pathetic!" I continued to laugh, and he smiled at me. "Why? Did you actually feel pressured when we went out?"
"Well..." he paused and tried to think for a second. "Not really. It's like I knew what to do."
"Okay... Then think why is that you knew what to do."
"Because I knew that you weren't going on a date with me because you wanted to go somewhere or maybe find out a new side of me, but it's because I knew you just wanted to spend some time with the me that you already know." He explained.
"Exactly." I leaned over to him. "I didn't care if it was a romantic date or a fancy restaurant. As long as I was with you, I didn't care about anything else."
He stopped for a second, and he stared like he wanted to kiss me. I was also getting that urge, and somehow, his body was leaning closer to mine, and I was driving towards him too.
"Well!" I panicked and brushed my body back away from him. "That was when we were dating. It's a thing I have with Ken now."
"Yeah." He lied back to his chair too. "I'm glad you have someone who makes you feel that way!"
"Yeah." I nodded. I bit my lip because I felt like I was lying. "Yeah, I do."
"Just be myself?" he laughed. "What happens if she finds something about me that she doesn't like?"
"Well..." I leaned closer again and said with an erotic voice. "Then she's got her priorities wrong."
"Thanks..." he laughed and blinked for a moment. "Somehow, that made me feel so much better."
"See? I'm great at giving advice!" I bragged. "Ask Laura. She'd be lost without me."
"Yeah... Liyah." He called me in a various serious tone. I looked at him, and he his gaze was piercing my vagina. "Thank you for everything. I know I've done a lot of horrible things, but I just wanted to tell you that I'm so lucky to be your friend and roommate."
"Alex. We've been through this-"
"No." he stopped me. "You said stop apologizing. I'm not apologizing. I'm thanking you for being the coolest girl I know."
"Well, in that case." I raised my cup and offered a toast. "You're welcome, Alexander."
"To Liyah..." he raised his cup too.
"To me..." we toasted.
