Anyway, Friday night didn't come too long. It was an hour after we got home from Laura's checkup with the doctor when I decided to type our essay that was due the next at noon. Alex probably had finished his essay since he didn't have a job and all. Plus, he had a dinner date with Janine, so I thought he probably didn't want to procrastinate it. So, there I was typing on my laptop, and I have typed about five pages when I started to hear this giggling sound from two people coming from the front door. I stopped typing and listened for a moment. I thought it sounded like Janine and Alex. And yes, it sounded like they went inside Alex's room, so I thought it was probably them.

It was a little awkward. I could hear them talk from my room. Alex couldn't stop laughing at everything she said, and she just kept saying sexy things. It was a hard moment to start typing an essay when you could hear sex starting to engage. I grabbed my headset from my drawer and listened to music, and I started to type again. Seriously, it was a bother. I couldn't really get some work done with all the sexy thoughts coming through my head. I kept typing 'sex' and 'fuck' out of desperate imagination. My mind couldn't stop imagining these images of Alex when we had sex, and the images of his sex survey form weren't helping.

I kept trying to breathe, but my body was feeling warm like I was feeling like doing something really dirty. I closed my eyes and took heavy breaths. Then this song called "Sea of Love" started to play, and it was a very warm and tender song, really suits a sex scenario. I was getting these flashes of images of me and Alex doing it, like when you blink your eyes and see images. It definitely was a hard time to type an essay and live in a room next to your ex who still drives you crazy.

The next morning, Laura had woken me up, and I had fallen asleep on the living room couch. She kept shaking me, and finally, I got up. I had my blanket and pillow there with me, and I was still wearing my headsets.

"What are you doing sleeping here?" she asked me. "You have a room."

"I fell asleep." I still tried to fully wake myself as I slowly brought my body up. I still kept yawning and blinking. "I was typing an essay. The prof said to type five to ten pages. I've typed six so far."

"Okay?" she raised a brow. "Well, I'm making breakfast. We have a shift at nine, so get up."

"Okay." I got up.

I took a shower, cleaned myself up, and got ready for the day. So, there we were; Laura and I were having breakfast. I had my laptop with me because I was still adding some stuff up to my essay.

"I thought you already finished that?" she asked while she took a bite of the sausage she made.

"No, I still haven't added some conclusive ending." I typed and tried to eat both at the same time. "I'm trying to get it to eight pages. I've been typing the same thing over and over again."

"Ha!" she laughed. "That's what I do! And if it were me, I'd stop at five pages!"

"Well, I only have three classes this summer." I said. "Why not get a good grade on all of them?"

"True." She continued eating. Then, Alex went out of his room with Janine. He had changed to his home T-shirt and shorts again, the ones that drive my ovaries crazy. I turned to see them of course, and they walked to us.

"Hi, guys! This is Janine!" he said, and she waved at us. "She's on her way out."

"Hello." She greeted. "Having a great morning, I see."

"Hi, I'm Laura!" Laura waved back. "I didn't know you had a new playmate, Alex."

"Yeah, that's Laura." Alex pointed. "And you already know Liyah."

"Hi!" I turned and gave a wave, but I immediately turned away.

"And the other roommate's Harvey. He's not currently here, I think." Alex continued.

"Great!" She faced him and smiled. "I had a great time."

"Me too." He nodded at her and smiled. "Next time?"

"Next time." She giggled as she walked out to the door. "Bye!"

"Whoa!" Laura exclaimed as soon as Janine got out. "Who's this lovely fellow?"

"She's a girl in my class." He laughed. "Actually, Liyah was the one to persuade to go with her."

"Oh my God!" she giggled. "You two look cute! She's definitely hot and a good match for you, Alex! I didn't think you were into blondies!"

"I'm not. I don't really know what my type is."

"Yeah, he doesn't." I turned to him, pretending like last night wasn't a bother. "But it looks like you did well. See? My advice works! You got laid!"

"Sure does!" he laughed. "I would've been lost without her!"

"Yeah, your ex giving you dating advices..." Laura said. "That's weird, but it's kinda' cute. I'm glad it's not weird between you guys. Most exes stay away from each other."

"True... but Alex and I are mature enough to know the right thing to do." I said.

"Yeah." He chuckled as he walked to the bathroom. "I'm gonna take a shower."

"Tell me, Liyah..." she leaned over to me and whispered. "Did you sleep at the couch to avoid hearing them have sex?"

"Well..." I tried to lie, but it seemed pointless. "I did because I couldn't write my essay with all the noise. It's just my writing issue, not the whole Alex thing."

"Are you sure?" she smirked. "You didn't have your laptop at the living room this morning, so you didn't type out here. You slept here to get away from the sex sounds."

"Ughh." I sighed. "I hate it when you analyze me so accurately."

"Oh God!" she laughed. "This is so not gonna end well! You help him get a girl, you're still pining over him! It's almost pathetic!"

"I'm not pining over him..." I whispered. "I'm with Ken now, and he's my boyfriend."

"But you don't seem to care about your relationship with Ken." She said. "It's like it's fine with you that he doesn't call or show up. It's fine with you that your boyfriend-girlfriend relationship only revolves around sex."

"No, he's busy." I replied. "He's a busy dude! I get that!"

"But when Alex was busy, even if you understand it, you still got depressed." She continued to tease. "You just don't have the same thing with Alex and Ken."

"Why are we talking about this? You're my best friend." I said. "You should be looking out for me."

"I am!" she smiled. "That's why I'm telling you to make the right decisions here! If you're still in love with Alex, then break up with Ken. He doesn't seem to care anyway."

"Do you really think that's the path I should be taking?"

"I'm a pregnant 19-year old. I'm not really qualified for advise-giving, but as your best friend, I really want you to be happy." She said. "Because I don't want to see you pining, crying, and eating ice cream on that couch while watching Titanic."

I couldn't say anything. What Laura said kept me wondering. Was I really doing the right thing? Alex had told me he came back for me, but I was already with Ken. I gave him the 100% assurance that I was happy with Ken, which is why he backed off and started something with Janine. But was I really happy with Ken? I didn't really know what to feel anymore...
