Chapter 35 The Pandemonium of Asuka Langley Shikinami, Phase 1: Deconstruction

The sounds of lightbulb buzzing awakens Asuka Langley Shikinami, she is wearing a hospital gown and one thing to note is that one of her right eye is covered by an eyepatch with a band aid over it. She sits on her bed and she wonders what is going on?

Asuka:"... Why am I here?"

She starts to remember bit by bit, she remembers being asked by Misato to be the test pilot for unit-03. She remembers getting into the Entry Plug, the plug was inserted into the EVA, the sync with the EVA went well and then...

Asuka:"!"

She remembered a strange being attacking her.

???:"You woke up"

Asuka takes notice of the voice and turns to the source, she sees Misato leaning on the wall with a down expression.

Asuka:"Misato... What happened during the test?"

She asks her superior, Misato then tells her.

Misato:"Apperently Unit-03 was infected, as Angel possessed it. It destroyed the test area and then the Angel went to Nagazora"

Asuka looked curiously at Misato, wondering why the Angel would go to the destroyed city.

Asuka:"Why did it go there?"

Misato:"We don't know but, apparently Shinji and his friends were there. The Angel attacked Shinji, this caused him to transform into what we think is his Herrscher form. The Angel and the Herrscher battle, but to our shock he can control EVA-01"

The second child was shocked by this.

Asuka:"What?! A Herrscher that can control an EVA?!"

Misato:"The Angel was completely annihilated by the Herrscher controlled Evangelion, you were lucky to have survive"

Then Misato tells Asuka.

Misato:"However, we have detected some remains of the Angel in your right eye, that's why you are staying here in quarantine"

Asuka:"What?!"

She spoke with rage, Asuka was wounded by Misato's order. She didn't want this to be stuck in a room for days, weeks or even months, she desires to pilot the EVA. To fight the enemies of humanity.

Asuka:"Misato you can't do this to me, you are going to let that doll take the spotlight from what remains of the Angels"

The commanding officer flinches at the mention of the Angels, she then takes a deep breath and she looks at Asuka with a serious expression.

Misato:"Asuka...The Angels are all gone"

The world shatters around Asuka when she hears those words, an expression of loss appears on the Second Child's face. She doesn't know what to say, Misato then leaves the stunned Asuka alone in the hospital room.

Gendo's Office

Silence was all there was inside the room, Fuyutsuki was looking outside the window even though he was not looking at Gendo, he could tell that there was a look of desperation on his face. Something that he has not seen in while in the cold leader of Nerv.

Fuyutsuki:"So what now?"

The former professor breaks the silence with a simple question.

Gendo:"Nothing"

Fuyutsuki looks at Gendo.

Fuyutsuki:"What do you mean?"

Gendo:"There is nothing we can do, all of the Angels are dead. Nerv will then be dissolve"

Fuyutsuki:"...So your plans to reunite with Yui have failed"

There was brief silence between the two, Gendo responds to the former professor with a simple answer.

Gendo:"Yes"

Hospital room

The buzzing, that was all that Asuka could hear, she didn't move an inch. It was like she was a statue, the iris of her eyes still moved, however she was dead in a way. She lost all purpose, the Shikinami type clone has lost everything...

Asuka Langley Shikinami was the name she took from the original Asuka. The original Asuka Langley Shikinami was an excellent soldier yet also a brilliant scientist, she was the test subject for the contact experiment with Unit-02, when she became part of the control system of the Evangelion, Nerv Europe has lost a pilot.

So they decide to clone her, then using a simulation test to see which one was the true perfect match with the original and dispose of the defective ones. She was the one that survived. Asuka thought if she could pilot the EVA everyone would love her, but now-

???:"It was all for nothing"

Asuka then heard a voice in the back of her mind.

???:"With all of the Angels gone, they would dispose of you too"

Asuka puts both of her hands on her head.

Asuka:"Shut up!"

???:"Don't deny it, I'm telling the truth"

Asuka's mentality begins to spiral and she begins to lose sight of the world.
