I didn't go back the next day. I had previously arranged plans. I just needed to know that Sam was okay. Everyone else went so I asked them. It was foreign today walking to school without him, and just Emmette. I think this hit him the hardest, I felt for him.
"Are you going to visit Sam after school?" I ask.
"Yeah, you thinking of coming?" He asked blankly. I missed his usually cocky attitude.
"Yeah." I flashed a quick smile not holding my breath for him to. We didn't talk much but once we got to school we met everyone in home room.
"Hey guys." I say towards Amanda, Kaylee and James.
"Um, Savannah may I speak to you for a minute?" Mr. Jacobs asks. I sigh to myself and get up and walk out of the room with him.
"I heard about Sam, and after Sophia this must be hard for you. I know you were close to both of them. I'm so sorry."
'Sorry. That's all I ever hear. I'm so sorry. Yeah me too. Why are you sorry? What did you do? Are you sorry for me? Don't be. I'm a big girl.' Or
'And what do you mean used to be close to them? Sams not dead, and everyone always says they are in your heart, yeah that's pretty friggen close to me mr. Jacobs.' I think about saying these, but I put my best sad smile on and instead say,
"Thankyou." And with that I walked away.
The day passed slowly, I couldn't concentrate. I talked to officer Bailey at break.
"Savannah, he's leading up to kill you." Was all I remember of our conversation. Well, that was news to me. I should feel scared, but I feel relieved. At 4:10 Jade, Emmette and I got on our bus to the hospital. Jade looked like she was trying to be brave but if someone pushed her anymore, she would snap. Emmette has always been hard to read, his body language and his eyes always say different things.
"Now I'll never, never get to clean up the mess I made-" my Bruno mars ringtone went off.
"Hello?" I answer.
"Hello Savannah, it's officer Bailey. Just a quick update I though you may like to know about Sam."
"Oh yes, I'm on my way to see him now." I smile.
"I was talking to him earlier and-" she paused.
"Sam saved your life Savannah. The unsub, or unknown subject was among to kill you. We thought he was leading up to you, but shooting Sam was an accident." She finished.
"Hershel was gunna- I mean he was going to ki- Sam saved me?" I put my hand over my mouth in shock. Sam was taller than me, and if he jumped the bullet would go to his ribs, and that measures to about my neck. I felt dizzy 'it should have been you.' I say to myself.
"Yes Savannah. Without Sam, you would have been probably dead. You have some great friends surrounding you." I heard a smile into the sentence.
"I'm afraid I have to go now, watch out, and stay safe." She finishes.
"Thankyou Taylor. I appreciate it. Bye." I hang up. I felt sick to my stomach. There's nothing I could do now.
I was about to pull the yellow cord to let the bus driver know to stop, when a petite hand slapped mine away, so she could pull it herself. I followed the arm to see who it's owner was. I look into jades smiling 'I'm so innocent eyes' and laugh. I jump off the bus, flashing a quick "thankyou." and a smile. We just wait outside the hospital, a bit afraid of what we might see. Jade bravely steps forward, and we start to the parkinglot.
