Gracie
"God no, I'm not coming there." I say as he suggests the horrible idea of going to the horror house.
"Come on Grace, I thought you weren't scared." He says.

"Of course I'm not scared. I just don't want to go there. We had got news about how a woman died of heart attack when she went inside the horror house." I say, my eyes wide.
"Oh that woman might already have a cardiac problem. Who even knows?" He says.

"She died of fear. I'm not planning to die the same way Alastair!" I say.
"I'm there with you."
"Exactly." I smirk.

"Last time Gracie, are you coming with me?" And he held out his hand for me. Had he asked this same question seven years ago, in the same way, I would have might left everything behind and gone for him.
I sighed. "Yes."

We went towards the tent and took tickets. At the entrance of the horror house, I said,"If I die, tell my family that I love them."
"Oh yeah. And if you don't, then you'll come for coffee with me."

Now that was unexpected. Is he aiming for another chance? Does he still love me? The chances are very bleak, but yeah, he wants to be 'friends', so I guess that's what he's trying to do. I shut down my disappointed heart and ready myself to enter the horror house.
"I'm not going to die of course. That's an unfair deal. Somehow I'm going to get out of here alive, so that's not done." I say.

The noises start as the door shuts behind us. It's pitch black and there are loud sounds of shrieks and wierd ghost noises. Something tickles my leg.
"Aaaa." I shriek loudly.

He keeps an arm around me. I calm down slowly. His arms feel more like a home than four walled rooms. We walk down the way. The path can be seen only due to the little red lights below, or else it's pitch black over here. We see a skeleton, a white ghost and all that wierd shit. Somehow I always shriek a bit and he rubs my back. He feels sooo good. Suddenly a coffin opens up somewhere, and I lose it. I jump and bury my face in his jacket. Aah, he smells great. He soothingly rubs my back again and chuckles.
"It's almost over." He whispers.

We walk to the end, my eyes shut now. The door opens and I leap out. "Great experience it was, wasn't it?" He says, smirking.
I scowl at him. "You don't talk to me."
And I walk away faster, he catches up with me soon with his long legs.
"Grace it was fun." he laughes.
"Don't talk to me Alastair!" I say and walk faster.
"I'll treat you to icecream."
I stop. He remembers my weakness. I turn around and give him a small smile.

We approach a little icecream stall. "Choco and chips in one cone and blackberry in a cup." He says. He remembers my favourite flavour also. Damn, is it that bad with him as well?
"Next we're going on the ferris wheel." He says.
"I'll just jump off and you'll be blamed for my death." I say in disbelief.
He grins. "Look, it moves really slowly. And there is also an entire cabin like room, not even a seat. You won't be able to jump out of it. Just come."

I follow him begrudgingly. Once again, we're slowly moving towards the sky. I avoid looking out of the window. I close my eyes. I feel his fingertips grazing my knuckles. "Hey, it's okay."
"Are we down?"
"No we're on the top and open your eyes. Please. For me?" He says softly.
I blink my eyes open. He hasn't let go of my hand.

"Now look out at the world outside. You won't fall. I'm here."
I look out of the window. It's perfect. The sun shines brightly above, throwing it's rays on entire California. The houses and buildings far off look like building blocks on a child's playground. Spectacular.

Before I know it, we've landed. "Was it good?" He asks. And I blush as I remember the last time he asked me that question.

"Amazing." I say, my eyes gleaming. He has cured me of my fears for the second time, yet falling for him is still my fear.
We sit on a few more little rides and visit some stalls, and then we decide to go for boating. It's still early evening. Clutching the tiny teddy bear he won for me at a game stall, I walk alongside him to the river. He takes the oars from the man and carefully steps into the shaking boat. He holds out his hand for me. I put my hand in his and he holds tightly as I step into it.

We sit down and he starts rowing. His muscular arms are visible from underneath his half sleeved t shirt. I am admiring them when he asks,"So Grace, you didn't die in the horror house, will you come for coffee with me?" He asks.

I roll my eyes at him playfully. "Now that was a stupid deal. Of course I wouldn't have died under any circumstances."
"Okay chuck that. Will you come with me anyways?" He asks adorably.
"Yep." I say biting my lip. Who would reject this man?
He smiles his brightest. "So where are we going next? We have five to six hours, till night."
"After this, we'll go to watch the fireworks at the central market, then we'll shop around the market itself and then I'll show you a place. It's a surprise." I say.

"Oh nice. A lot of California is still left to see, which I will, gradually." He says.
"Today we could see so less of this place. I do hope that I introduce you more around here." I say apologetically.
"Chill. Today was one of the best days I've had since a long time. I've really missed you Grace." He says, his voice all raspy and breathy.
"I missed you too." I say in all honesty.
"How was life after I left?"
Oh, so we're finally having this conversation.

"To be honest, it wasn't worth living. College was great, but I never even looked at any boy. You were all I could think of. Even after leaving, you never really left." I say it all in one go.
He looks at me with a different intensity.

"How was life for you?" I ask, my turn now.
"I didn't attend college. Focussed on work. Lived like a shithole."
I stare at the horizon. How I wish he was mine. But the truth still dangles in the air like a knife. We probably might never make it again, love won't bless us for a second time. Old lovers with memories, that's all we'll remain as.
