The two of them entered the kitchen and Estonia ran a hand through his hair uneasily.

"What happened with Lithuania?" He asked with more venom than he intended.

As soon as he said that, Russia looked away.

"I don't know..." Russia whispered, "I was reading when Latvia came into the room. He said something... I can't remember what. The next thing I knew, I was in my room and Lithuania was..." He couldn't bring himself to finish his sentence, tears appearing in his eyes.

Estonia frowned, trying to wrap his head around the situation.

"Lithuania is pretty badly hurt." Estonia said bluntly, his face revealing none of his thoughts.

"Da." A pause. "I should have told you."

"Told me what?"

"This isn't... it isn't the first time this has happened. When I was younger, Prussia... he was trying to invade me, and I just... snapped."

Estonia sighed and shook his head, at a loss for words.

"Russia..."

"Do you hate me?" Russia asked softly.

Estonia blinked in surprise.

"Hate you?"

"Da. Why wouldn't you? I... I hurt your brother and... and... this!" He finished, gesturing to the rest of the house, "You didn't want this. I... I didn't..." His voice trailed off and he sighed.

Estonia stopped to think. Did he hate Russia? He had only just sorted out his feelings towards him, but with Lithuania wounded and Russia having fits of insanity, he didn't know anymore. He opened his mouth to answer, but then noticed the look on Russia's face. It was probably the most broken expression he had ever seen, and he couldn't bring himself to hate him.

With a sigh, he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Russia's neck, placing a soft kiss on his lips. After a moment, he felt Russia slip his arms hesitantly around his waist and return the kiss. When he pulled away, Russia immediately buried his face in Estonia's neck.

"Mne zhal'..." Russia said softly.

Estonia bit his lip and ran a hand through Russia's hair. He winced when he felt wet spots leak through his shirt.

"Russia, I..." Estonia's voice trailed off, "No one hates you, Russia."

He heard Russia scoff bitterly through his tears.

"I can immediately think of at least five."

"No one who should matter hates you." Estonia corrected.

"I'd be shocked if Lithuania didn't hate me." Russia pulled away and sat at the kitchen table.

"He doesn't. I was just talking to him and he..." Estonia's voice trailed off and he blushed, "Well, he told me not to hold it against you."

Russia looked away. Estonia frowned and sat next to him.

"Russia?"

"Why did it have to be me? Why couldn't the personification of Russia be someone else who isn't... better?" Russia said under his breath, more to himself than to Estonia.

"Would you rather have someone like Prussia represent Russia?" Estonia asked dryly.

A small smile appeared on Russia's face.

"Nyet." He said with a quiet laugh.

Estonia returned the smile and wrapped and arm around Russia's waist, resting his head on his shoulder.

"Russia?" He asked, feeling a sudden burst of courage.

"Da?"

"...I love you." He said softly.

He felt Russia tense. There was a short silence until Russia spoke up.

"I... I love you too."

Estonia smiled and leaned up, kissing Russia's cheek. They sat there for a while until Estonia glanced at the clock and stood up.

"Latvia's ironing right now. I should probably make sure that he doesn't burn the house down." He said sheepishly.

Russia frowned and pulled Estonia into his lap.

"R-Russia?" Estonia stammered, face rapidly turning red.

"Please don't leave. Can't Latvia manage for one day?" Russia murmured.

Estonia smiled slightly.

"Yeah... okay."

As soon as he said that, Russia leaned forward and pressed his lips against Estonia's, wrapping his arms around him tightly. Estonia sighed through his nose and returned the kiss.

"Ya tebya lyublyu." Russia whispered before pausing, "Ma... ma armastan... sind...?" He struggled through the phrase.

Estonia looked at him in surprise as a smile crept onto his face.

"Where did you learn Estonian?" He asked, laughing.

"A book." Russia said before looking away.

Estonia shook his head and kissed Russia again.

"Ma armastan sind ka."
