September 6, 1991. Estonia (the country) had officially left the Soviet Union. At this time, Estonia (the personification) was still preparing to leave Russia's house. As he packed his things, he couldn't help but notice that he hadn't seen Russia all day. Somewhat curious, he went upstairs to Russia's bedroom.

"Russia?" He called after a moment's hesitation.

The door opened, but Russia immediately turned and walked away. Estonia sighed irritably.

"Are you angry with me now?"

"Nyet." Was the only reply given.

"Russia?" No answer. "Russia, talk to me."

Russia looked at Estonia hesitantly.

"It's nothing." He said quietly, smiling forcibly.

"You were avoiding me today."

"Da. I... I didn't want to interrupt your packing."

"Of course you didn't." Estonia snapped.

Russia went silent and looked away. Estonia shook his head and sat next to him.

"Russia? I don't really care about what's happening between our governments right now. I love you and I don't want you to be this upset."

"I just don't want to be alone again." Russia mumbled.

"You won't be. Just because I'm leaving your house doesn't mean that I'll never see you again."

"Your boss won't let you."

"He can't prevent us from talking at world meetings."

"I don't want to only see you once a year!" Russia exclaimed.

Estonia frowned and wrapped his arms around him.

"It will be fine. We'll figure something out." He paused to kiss him, "I love you."

"I love you too. Is there any way that you can convince your boss to let you see me?"

"He won't even let me see my own brothers since he wants me to focus on politics. The next time I'll be seeing them will be at the world meeting."

"Are you serious?"

"Jah. I can't imagine that it will be too bad, though. We don't really have much in common anyways, so our conversations can be a bit awkward."

"At least neither of them desperately want to marry you." Russia laughed bitterly.

"Belarus is a bit of an odd duck, isn't she?"

Russia sighed and pressed his lips to Estonia's again.

"I won't keep you from your packing any longer."

"Hmm... one more kiss." Estonia smiled.

Russia was more than happy to comply.
