Why there isn't a Cornucopia

A lot of you readers probably have been thinking many things such as where is the cornucopia and now-in this small update- I shall reveal to you why.

When I first began writing this book (2-ish years ago) I knew nothing about the Hunger Games. Now, I still know hardly anything but I do know the odd important thing or two. For example, I now know that the arena is always different and the symbolism of a mockingjay.

Now onto the cornucopia.

I actually discorved what this was halfway through my third book. That's when I decided that as we're using celebs, they change the rules up a bit.

Then I reach this point and decided to write about how these changes were decided as a mini-update.

The next actual chapter will come out sometimes this week, hopefully!

Without further ado, here you go.

"It's boring isn't it," Veronica Gambsy sighed, looking out the huge window over the districts.

"What's boring darling?" her fiance asked, sipping some rich red wine.

"The way the Hunger Games work."

"How so? I think it works perfectly, escpecially since you've become Head Gamekeeper. All the districts are under perfect control."

"I know."

"So..."

"It's boring."

Veronica turned towards Jak, raising an eyebrow at his glass. He shrugged and took another, slow sip.

He loved Veronica dearly, but she was so energetic, so jumpy that sometimes she became too unpredictable for him to handle. So far she had run one of the Games and it was a big hit in the Capitol. The arena was designed to 'entertain' the watchers of the Hunger Games which was a big difference to the previous Games.

"Well, how would you make it less boring?" he asked.

Veronica pounced up like a cat and slithered to his side.

"How about we use celebrities instead of the people in Districts?"

"Will that not ruin the whole point of the Hunger Games?"

"I'm pretty sure they won't start a rebellion when they are relieved from being saved from the Games. If you're so unsure, we can put some more patrollers or whatever-you-call-'ems on duty."

Jak rolled his eyes and handed a previously prepared glass to his would be wife. She took it gently and downed half of the class in one go.

"So, a celebrity Hunger Games, huh? It doesn't sound too bad."

"Of course, it's my idea after all."

"But are you going to use this idea for just one Game or...?"

She paused, finishing her wine.

"How about we use ten celebrities and two of them can win. Then after 5 games there will be a winner's match and then we'll go back to using the Districts."

Jak nodded and Veronica's arms snaked around his neck.

"And you know what else?" Veronica's eyes shined wildly, "We'll get rid of the Cornucopia. They'll pick their weapons from a selected few and be forced to kill before they die of dehydration or Hunger."

"You're so evil sometimes, Honey," Jak shook his head.

Veronica forced Jak backward into a chair and smirked.

"Aren't we all?"
