Chapter 1

Death Sentence

Chiara's p.o.v

I woke at the crack of dawn. Everything felt different. Tensed. Scared and scary at the same time. I knew why too.

In fact, there were several reasons why. Today, I sentenced eight unlucky celebrities to certain death and the rebellion had begun. It was also my birthday. The Hunger Games date had been moved to winter time for no particular reason.

I also just felt like something out of nature was going to happen. Like, someone was about to use magic. Or something.

I don't know. It just felt like that.

I walked downstairs into the dining room and found a pile of presents. My fans sent me loads of gifts too as well as my large family.

Most of them were clothes, all cool and expensive. I dug through my new outfits before finding a scarf. As soon as my hands brushed along the fabric, I felt a spark. This scarf. I saw it before. Then I had a flashback.

"Hey, Chiara. Thanks. Thanks for everything. Thanks for being my friend!" a small, bubbly girls face filled my mind.

"It's ok," I saw the young me smile, "Wish I could have that scarf."

I pointed at a fashionable lilac scarf through the window. It was too expensive.

"Oh," her expression drooped, "I'll get it for you on another birthday!"

I smiled. It was my birthday that day too.

I came back to the real world with a jump. Could this be from her? No.... She wouldn't have remembered even if she was alive. Would she?

I shook my head and wrapped the scarf around my neck. It felt a calming warm, as if magic was flowing within it. I pulled it up over my mouth and huddled into it.

Next, I shoved all my still wrapped presents it my room before heading to my brother. My older brother, Lucca (dw felicity, ik its one c) is a 17 year old rapper. A bad one in my mind. He has like a million fan girls though.

He lay sprawled across the bed and I chuckled as I watched him clutch a teddy. Mr. Present, he called it at the age of six. Don't ask me why.

I shook him awake before shuffling back into my room and sorting out my hair and make up. I added some faint blush and lilac lipstick before pulling my scarf carefully over.

I slipped on a lilac mini dress and made my way downstairs. Luca stood lazily in his usual 'tumbled-out-of-bed' get up. I don't know how his fans still like him.

I smiled weakly at him and strode outside. I climbed into our limo, my brother right behind.

"To the stage," I directed, gently.

The chauffer nodded and started to drive. The journey only took a few minutes and we walked onto the stage.

"Hello!" I shouted to the crowd, "Welcome to the third celebrity hunger games!"

Cheers and screams emitted from the gathering.

Lucca didn't hesitate to wait any longer. He shoved his hand into the first stone bowl, labelled 'Comedy'.

He pulled out a piece of paper, 'David Walliams,' he drawled, like he couldn't care any less who he was condemning to death.

I shivered and pulled one out, "Double act, Olivia and Laurenia!"

Lucca pulled his microphone off the stand and walked over to the next stone pillar, I repeated his action and shuffled over.

I dug into the paper, rustles meeting my ears. My hands closed around one, which seemed to be radiating warmth.

"For the YouTuber Section, Aven, TheGirlOfDaffodils!" I shouted.

Lucca pulled one out himself, "OneDirectionRoxs, Yasmin!"

I rushed over to the Actor bowl and pulled two out, handing one to my brother.

"Tia Starell," I read off, quickly.

I just wanted to get this done and over with quick.

"Tommy Grithid," he shouted.

Cheers and applause all over again.

My brother pulled out two slips from the surface of the next bowl, Writers.

"John Green!"

I took the other from his hand.

"Tali Fromahe," I announced, strolling over to the final bowl, "For the music category...."

I picked one out, "Lucca Waters."

Cheers rose from the crowd and Lucca smirked. I heard my heart pump in my chest. My own brother....?

He picked one out and read, "Chiara Waters."

The heartbeats became louder and more rapider. The cheers melted into the back ground. The whole stage dissolved and I managed to make out my brother announcing, "A new rule has been made, no teams. It's every man for himself."

Then I fell.
